Hey folks,

I've got a hansg 28inc LCD monitor and a 4870X2. Updated driver's to see if it fixes it but no luck so far :P

Anyway.

All it is when I boot up the picture is all grainy its been happening like this for the last two months and nothing fixes it really including updating or reversing the driver's. I also using 60hz refresh rate and tried cranking it up it made it far far worse!!!.

Now what it also does is that the picture at the start up (till it warms up) is all blocky and patchy and flashes on and off like that for about 5-10 minutes after that is usually ok in most games I play with no graphicall tearing I only get the grainy image.

So question is my graphic's card on its way our or definatly my LCD Monitor?

Yeah you could test it on a tv if you don't have another monitor.

Or try a different graphics card.

I am leaning more towards the tv being at fault if you dont get actual dots/lines/corruption on your screen in post/boot and crashes during desktop and playing games.

Is it heat? Try swapping to another monitor / TV for testing if it's still grainy then swap the card out.

Determine the problem first.

Is it still grainy under the POST and in BIOS?

Hiya,

Just an update. It seems to lose signal i.e turn itself off (tho the light stays on) so I need to turn the monitor on and off for the picture to come back. It then started to do it a lot so swopped the LCD for a smaller 17inch and no grainy image, no stuttering and no loss of picture.

The heat remains at 83oc on load (cracked up fan now 52oc). The grainy images happened post Bio's i.e when Windows Graphic's kicked in where you actually log in.

So i'm guessing your all suggesting now to RMA the LCD monitor?

If you cannot reproduce the same symptoms with any other screen then yes, it looks like it's the hansg 28inc LCD monitor which is at fault, possible to try and use a different power cable for the monitor in case it's just the cable? failing that, looks like rma time.

Hey folks,

Just to let you know and thanks for everyones help. I got it shipped back to HansG who replaced the board and fixed the Monitor. Came back like brand new :P
