Graphics card recomendation

To be honest, yes it would, the GTS is a powerful card and beats the 1950 in most games easily and at your rez you will get great performance. The difference between the 256 and 512 version will be minimal to non existent at the rez your gaming at so the 256 will be fine.

what if i upgraded to a 22" 1600x1000 monitor in the future?

i get the feeling a 8800gts 320mb is definitely the best thing to get?
 
I think your right, the GTS all the way, especially if you may want a higher rez in the future, mind you the gts 640 would probably be better at 1600x1200 or1680x1050 but lets not complicate things, the 340 version is spot on.
