Graphics card upgrade for Triple monitor use

Hi all,

I can't seem to locate my old account from 10years ago but appears I must have created this one before realising my credentials a number of years ago.

I currently run a aging 670ti SLI setup on Ivy Bridge (3770k) which needs scrapping. I run the 3 monitors at 1920*1200 each (5960*1200) but also use them for work. I'm not intending to go out and upgrade them anytime soon and will likely only be running games released in the last couple of years (far cry 6, dying light 2 etc), but may play something newer that takes my fancy, obviously dropping the settings like I've been used to over the last few years.

I will doing a whole new build minus the case, so what is everyone's view of a sufficient card to replace my 670ti SLI to be able to run games like the above at this resolution at good settings. Would a 3070ti/3080 be over the top and be wasted at this resolution?

Thanks for reading and any responses.

Just to be clear are you saying you want to play at 5960 x 1200? If so, that's a big ask (it's nearer 4K than it is 1440p), so a 3070 Ti/3080 is definitely not overkill.

Yes I would be, thanks for responding.
I've been looking at some of the 4k reviews today since 5960*1200 (or 6060 with bezel correction means its around 7,272,000 pixels versus a 4k display being 8,294,400 as you say so fairly close).
Since there doesn't seem to be much in it at the price range (for what is in stock) it looks like the extra £50-£70 on the 3080 for an 2Gb memory and more cores may be worth it would you say. Or would the extra 2gb not be needed?

It depends on the game, of course, but at 4K you need everything you can get.

It might be worth hanging on to see if the 7900 XT/XTX make everything cheaper, especially if the 4070 Ti/4070 launches soon (rumour is 5 January).

Thanks, I was aware the newer cards were coming but hadn't seen its rumoured to be the 5th. Now to get the rest of the new build sorted 100% so its ready to be ordered in the next week or so.
