Graphics card upgrade options for fallout 4 on the cheap!

Im playing fallout 4 on i7 920 cpu,6gb ram,and amd 7870 graphics card.
Im very suprised how well the game runs,on a mixture of medium and high settings.
I get between 40 to 60 fps at 1080p and have not noticed any stuttering.

So i would say a amd 370 or 380 would be fine for the game.

Tbh not bothered about which ones best for f4. Just has to play it and fit.
I'm not going to only play fallout on my PC but ATM it's the only game I want to play but can't with my current setup.
Normal I play planetside and dirty bomb, everything else is older.

Having taken a look inside the case it looks like I've more space than I thought. The issue is the way I've routed the cables. May move them and that'll give me more space.

TBH i think you have space for any modern card within your budget. I could be wrong but i doubt any card of the current gens at 150 or less is more than 27cm long

ok so the question has now changed then.
budget is the same (lets say £160)
what's the quietest card?

My question would be could you hold out for a couple of weeks? Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals......

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £159.89
(includes shipping: £9.90)

This card is smaller than your old one, fairly cheap and will give you a large boost compared to your old card. It will use less power and not sound like a engine. Too bad about the V-ram but you can't have everything........ In a ideal world, there would be a Black friday offer you could not refuse on a R9 Nano even if it was over your budget, as that card would last you much longer......

This is a very good choice. But will there be no upcoming deals on a 970?

Not sure about what card will be the quietest but a quiet card is a cool running card at the moment the coolest running cards are any of the nvidia 900 series 950,960,970,980 etc. Although I had a gtx 970 that was fairly loud. It really depends on the design and how much heat the card pumps out as to how high the fans will spin.

I believe there both Amd and nvidia cards which fans don't turn on till they reach a certain temp.

Personally I think the gtx 960 is the way to go for you

MSI Gaming 960 will be the quietest card from experience of listening to a variety of models on those german websites. It's a shame you can't stretch to 4GB because even now 4GB is becoming part of recommended system requirements for recent games.

He can as I said for £160 - 4GB NVidia 960 - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...ss-graphics-card-gv-n960oc-4gd-gx-171-gi.html, ticks all the boxes has good performance for the price will run a lot cooler/quieter than AMD's offerings that while for a little bit more money might be better performers use a lot more power and produce more heat and noise. People might be saying that the 4GB NVidia 960 is too much money for what it is but from what I can see it is the best fit for what the OP is after.

GameGPU have tested the game with many cards:

http://gamegpu.ru/rpg/rollevye/fallout-4-test-gpu.html

The GTX960 is a bit faster than the GTX770 and its a more intense scene they tested than Guru3D.

Plus the cheapest GTX770 on OcUK is stupidly long and made by some random company I never heard off.

If OcUK is selling one of the shorter GTX770 cards for under £150 it might be an alternative though.

I had that card and the Gigabyte GTX960 4GB. Both are quite short.

Both are short enough for my Cubitek Minicube mini-ITX case which is smaller than the Bitfenix one the OP has,and its barely taxing my XFX 450W PSU AFAIK.

I would go for the Gigabyte one IMHO. The fan noise on both were not that bad,but I think the Gigabyte has an edge(subjective OFC).
I am running at the game with the Gigabyte card and it seems fine.

I also play Planetside2,and apart from parts where I am CPU limited it seems fine too.
