Graphics Card Upgrade Question

Hi,
I need to upgrade by PC as is not able to handle the latest games very well anymore.

I am planning to replace my Mobo, RAM and CPU and I was just wondering if it would be worth replacing my graphics card.

I currently have a GeForce GTX 280

I've had it for quite a while now but as far as I am aware it is not currently under performing. I believe the main source of 'slowness' is currently coming from my CPU (Q6600 Quad)

I am currently using windows gadget is monitor the performance of CPU and graphics card (I don’t know how accurate they actually are) but it seems to suggest that while playing game my CPU cores are running 75%-100% while my graphics card is usually running below 20% capacity. (On clock and memory usage)

Is it likely that the graphics card is fine or should I consider replacing in a new build?

Thanks for your help.

Your best bet is to figure out what your budget for a new build is, then post a "spec me" thread, I'm sure someone (probably ninja Stulid) will be able to spec you some awesome parts for your money

I would consider a i5 2500k upgrade and wait on the next gen cards to appear for a new graphics card.

The GTX 280 reasonable, a tad slower than the GTX 460 1GB.

All depends on your budget of course. :)

A GPU upgrade would be a good addition. You probably want one as part of any upgrade so you could get one first and try it? So no harm in buying it. Depends if you want to wait for new gen stuff.

Try to OC the q6600 too.
