Hi. I have a hi end system though now over a year old and the cards installed go now for peanuts lol, I'm looking to upgrade them. I have an i7 with Fatal1ty Z77 Professional motherboard older version only supports crossfire, 16gb ram. The gfx cards are Nvidia geforce 660 ti 2gb ram. I have 2 fitted though are sli cards only, they seem to work ok and dxdiag reconised them together at 4gb, .I guess most games won't recognise this. But still all the games I have still run on max gfx settings and get between 30 to 60fps, I'm still happy with that but don't know if I'm getting full potential.

I have decided to think about gfx card upgrade, .And with so many cards and models on the market I don't know what to go for. Should I go for 1 card or go for dual cards? (For gaming and hi gfx settings).
Keeping in mind of the cards I have is there now any thing better than those i have that won't break the bank? Thanks

The CPU is intel core i7-3770 CPU at 3.40ghz, 3400mhz. IIdont know if this is any good or not m understanding of modern CPUs is lacking I'm used to the older versions like pentium II 2ghz back in the old days when pcs started coming out lol
The mother board is z77 performance P2.10

A 1070 is a bit out my price range, I was looking at 1060, £150 is about my price range, prob a little more if I sell my 2 cards I have

Your CPU is fine. I would say that in your case, there is a quite a choice of single GPU cards which will deliver a very nice boost in performance.

How much are you willing to spend?

Edit: I see, so £150 ish.

As a rule I have always stuck with Nvidia gfx cards, I have had other brands but for me they didn't seem right, so went back to nvidia

Ok thanks for help. Would I benefit with a 4gb card comaired with the 2 I have also a bit cheaper or go for about more expensive 6gb? For me ATM my system is good for my needs so if I could get away with a 4gb card with a slightly better performance then that will work for me.

What resolution are you running as well?
Personally I'd go with the 6gb 1060 over the 3 gb 1060 as it also has more cores, Really the 6gb model should have been called the 1060ti so in effect you're swapping two 660ti for one of the modern day equivalents. And it'll offer a night and day performance boost with no sli issues to worry about, Overall it's a bad time to buy a gpu but if you can find one for around £150 secondhand grab it. Be wary of mining cards though.

Thanks for info, I have something now to work with lol, I have a gaming PSU I think it's over 700 ilnhave to take the cover off, I got plenty of spare connectors, the person I bought the computer spared no expense on the system. His only mistake was wrong gfx card version for the motherboard or wrong motherboard for the cards. He should have bought the professional board and not the performance board. As one board is sli only and the other x-fire. And both cards are sli
My screen resolution is 1920 X 1080 all my games run fine on max settings. Some games I have I can go higher and get a small drop in FPS but harder to read anything on screen lol

That's not how sli works, 2gb + 2gb doesn't = 4gb in sli

It works more like 2gb + the extra grunt of another card to calculate things

Both cards hold the same textures in their memory so yes, it's 2x2gb but not equalling 4GB.

Yes, it can get a bit confusing with games as some see 2 cards and add the memory together so it looks like you can use all it, think GTAV does or did at one time for instance >_<
