Graphics card upgrade?

I currently have an 8800GT, [email protected] and 4GB memory

What would be a worthwhile graphics card upgrade for me? I play in 1680 x 1050 and it should hopefully see me through the next 3 years, like my 8800GT has done.

Is a HD4850 or would it be the 57/58 series? Or another Nvidia card?

I will hopefully be buying second hand to save a bit of money

You won't see much improvement moving from 8800GT to 4850.

If you are certain you will be staying at 1,680x1,050 and not gonna move onto 1,9xxX1,2xx, 5770 would be smooth on max out on almost all the games...it's only games like Crysis or Dawn of War 2 which you might require to drop the AA a little. 5850 should run every game smooth at 1,680x1,050 and even at 1,9xxX1,2xx without having to lower AA, it is however priced around £80 higher than 5770.

So the question is...are you prepared to spend £120 or £200 on the graphic card.

All depends on what your 'in game' settings & expectations are though the current best bang for buck is the 5850, without a doubt.
