Graphics card upgrade

It’s not doing anything but I do see a 6 slot socket to pop a cable into but I don’t see one anywhere unless it’s tucked in. How do I post a photo on here please I am so sorry !
If you can get the model number of the PSU from the label (assuming it is easily accessible) then we can tell you if the power supply would normally be expected to have a 6-pin (or PCIE 6+2) power connector or not.

Until you plug in that power connector, the card is unlikely to display anything, since they're not optional when present.

RAM | GT730 2GB Graphics Card | 256GB SSD+1TB HDD || 500W 80+ PSU | Black Gaming Case with 6 RGB Fans

AirFlow | Wi-Fi | Windows 11.

When did you buy the pc? Based on 3770 we assumed you bought it 10+ years ago, but it's starting to sound like you bought it recently?
I bought it a couple of weeks ago for my daughter for Christmas . I didn’t have a clue as to what I was looking at just didn’t want to spend too much money with it being her first one.

Unfortunately this is a scam. Someone has sold you a very old computer and advertised it like it's a gaming pc but it isn't. It's pretty much worthless. You'll have to try to get your money back.

Edit: assuming you get your money back, then come back and ask us about what to buy.

With the 3050 fitted it could play most casual or older AAA games at 1080p resolution, but it'll struggle with anything released recently (in the last 1-3 years, like Starfield, Hogwarts) due to a 10+ year old CPU.

PC gaming is a very expensive hobby, not easy to beat the PS5 for a reasonable sum.

Marvel Rivals is a newer (and fairly demanding) game, unfortunately.

If the price paid was fair, it would do to play older PC games, if they're of any interest.

Sorry to say you've basically been scammed. The good news is that the jungle have a great returns policy, so return ASAP. To put it in perspective if you gave me that PC I would probably keep the case and take the rest of it down the tip. I've got better parts than that in the loft. You would struggle to build even a basic gaming PC for a £1000 now.

To get an idea of what a system costs, check here: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-systems/gaming-pcs?sort=price_asc

Second hand would be a better route, but you are best off getting advice on here before buying anything.

I don't think that PC you bought would even play Roblox very well. Gutted for your daughter :(

Unfortunately this is extremely common on the likes of Amazon, you sort of expect it from Ebay but people tend to forget that Amazon also functions as a market place.

You get people buying up decades old tech for pennies or low end cheap components they likely imported from AliExpress, then they slap it into a cheap Chinese case with tons of RGB and claim it's a modern gaming PC.

Really nasty tactic tbh, especially given how easily Amazon reviews/ratings are manipulated while they do sweet bugger all to combat the problem.

Amazon are usually pretty good with returns/refunds fortunately, and I believe they've an extended window for them during late November through to Jan.

As others have asked, can you return both items for a full refund?

I doubt anyone here will be building you a new PC for around £455 which I am guessing is roughly what you paid for the PC and the additional graphics card combined.

If you had all the money refunded and wanted a simple PC, then you are looking at spending £569 on something like a CyberPowerPC Ryzen 5 16GB 500GB RTX3050 Gaming PC which comes with Windows 11. Full spec below.
AMD Ryzen 5 4500 CPU AM4 platform. 6 core 12 thread.
16gb of DDR4 2400Mhz memory.
500gb NVMe hard drive.
RTX 3050 Graphics card.
650w PSU.
Windows 11 OEM installed.
Its a retail store model, but probably the cheapest that will get you started for your child's 1st PC experience. To build this yourself would cost more, at around £625 just for the parts.

We cannot provide links to the deal as it's against the forum rules.

If you cannot refund, then the only option is having someone open the PC case and checking the 500w PSU for a GPU cable to plug into the graphics card.

As was mentioned previously you can install the old GPU to run GPU-Z and take pictures of the information. You can remove panels on the PC to show label information, but the 1st thing to do is find a way to post images on the forum showing the people here who want to help what they need to help you.

My guess is that the cable is there, as it's a generic 500w PSU they use across the range, and that range includes RTX3050 GPU's. It will not be a modular power supply so all cables will be attached.

You can watch some Youtube videos on budget PC builds to get an idea of the way these PC's are built, there are hundreds just do not get hung up on parts, watch a couple just to get an idea on where items such as the PSU (power supply) and it's cables go.
Make sure everything is off when plugging cables, this video for example at around 14.30 time stamp shows a PC being placed and how its cables may look.

Like others here state, I would be pushing for a refund on the items you bought. If you cannot, then simply making the best of the situation and getting the 3050 powered up is what we need to attempt. Despite the doom and gloom, plenty of kids out there are still gaming on old 3770/4770 CPU based systems with 16gb of memory and a 3050 graphics card.

OP paid £330 for the pc and £200 for the 3050, so a total of £530

Ryzen 5 16GB 500GB RTX3050 Gaming PC which comes with Windows 11. Full spec below.
there's a better prebuilt spec from another etailer (5500 + 16gb ram + 3050 + 1tb ssd) for cheaper. i've given OP the details already

having had a look at the listing that OP sent me, this is highly unlikely. i fully expect a no-name linglong "500w" psu that does not have a pcie cable. you know the ones that advertise 500w but it's actually only 200w to the 12v rail

If you cannot, then simply making the best of the situation and getting the 3050 powered up is what we need to attempt.
the original pc in question is probably a repurposed dell board with no further bios updates to take the latest uefi gpus

Ideally if you can return it, definitely do that and give everyone here a budget and see what they can do,. Also if this is PURELY for gaming and if budget is low, just buy a ps5 pro as you cant beat that for price/performance with any pc you can buy right now given crazy parts prices. If you look around you can get ps5 pro for about £550. If this is going to be your daughters only PC, like she does not have a laptop for doing homework and other stuff, then get the PC and forget the PS5. I think having a PC can be a indispensable educational tool compared PS5. Don't just think about gaming but education.

if you cant return the PC its not the end of the world. I have a OLD intel xeon X5675 @4.4ghz which games perfectly fine @4k and I have it paired with rx 6950xt, unfortunately some new titles don't work because of missing instruction set but so far that's only 2 games. Your processor is roughly from this generation if not faster single core, shame its not 6 core as that would help but most games barely use more than 4 cores specially older stuff. What I would do if possible is return the 3050 and buying something faster like RTX 4060ti or RTX 3070 at least. Just not sure if you can put 4000 series GPU in there because of UEFI bios requirement and your power supply could be a problem also. Also gaming at higher resolution can negate a slower Processor somewhat but regardless you are going to be CPU bound.

we really need a picture of the power supply if possible and what resolution is your monitor?
