ok so i have a new build pc, everything is brand new inside.

my problem is the computer will not display anything when the graphics card is installed and powered up, it just shows no signal on monitor, when i dont have the graphics card powered up the computer obviously uses the onboard graphics and works fine.

i really would appreciate the help because this is driving me insane!

Psu : Corsair tx750
GPU : MSI Twin Frzr iii 6970
Mobo: Asus P8 Z68-V

tried switching the mobo sockets mine only likes to run on the bottom one for some reason, also what card and do you have the correct power connections going to it.

i have tried both of the x16 slots, graphics card is MSI Twin Frzr iii 6970, yep i have the 2 PCI-E 8 pins going into both slots of the card.

Have you tried it in the other pci-e slot? I take it you are are using 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 8 pin pci-e connecters, if so make sure they are firmly in. What connection are you using from your card to the monitor? Is the fan spinning when you boot?

yeah i have tried it in both slots, im using 2 x 8 pin leads, its a 6 pin with a 2 pin 'extra' side (http://techreport.com/r.x/psus-0907/pcie-connectors.jpg)

what do you mean what connection from card and monitor? you mean the cable that goes into the monitor? im using the one that came with monitor and a converter that came with the gpu for it to fit into the gpu

edit: sorry yeah the fans are spinning but on low speed (when the gpu is powered up), when the gpu is not powered up they spin at max speed obviously powered by the motherboard

As you are using an adapter from your card to the monitor that would be my first worry as i have heard quit a few people having these kind of problems. I connect to my monitor using a dvi cable with no adapters. Is your connection dvi, hdmi or vga? Whatever the connection though i would try out a lead that does not require an adapter. It may not be this but its a pretty cheap thing to rule out. With a lot of faulty cards the fan with spin on full speed no matter what the fact that yours seems to use the inbuilt fan profiles is a decent sign.

Have you set in the bios which graphic controller for primary boot?

Look under Advanced, System Agent Configuration, then Initiate Graphic Adaptor PCIE/PCI in bios

Had fun & games with this myself a few weeks back.

ok will do thanks, no other ideas what it could be? im completely stumped, only other thing i can think of is not plugging in the 2 'extra' pins from the psu but im worried i would only damage the gpu doing that.

Use you onboard graphics to check the setting.

The card has two 8pin connectors to work, so you need to use them on the psu.

If you only have 8 & 6 pin pcie connectors then., i can't see the card working.

edit: scratch that, i can run the computer now with graphics card powered up and the monitor connected to graphics card, but the computer still wont recognise the card :S

that switch you flciked is the bios switch there are 3 bios well 2 the 3rd is blank
try 1 click to the left although on mine right is standard middle is performance and left is nothing and wont boot as for drivers you need to clean all ur old drivers off you pc and fresh install.

and yes im drunk and my typing is terrible :-)

it was on the left originally, its now fully to the right and my pc wont pick up the graphics card, i dont have any previous drivers because this is a brand new install, still not working :(

any catalyst setup just freezes after i try to install it =/

btw my display adapter still shows as standard vga graphics adapter, will that change when i finally can install drivers?

You are plugging the monitor into the graphics card rather than the onboard graphics port when using the graphics card? the onboard port will be disabled when a graphics card is plugged in (usually).
