Graphics cards that made you go "WOW!"

When I upgraded from my FX5200 to my 6800GT I probably said "Wow!" :p

It was a glorious moment

I still have that system in the bottom of my cupboard actually. Water cooled 478 P4 FTW :D

3DFX Voodoo - The first proper PC 3D Accelerator IMO.

Geforce 256 - Pretty much **** on everything else by a good margin when it was released.

8800 GTX/GT - The 8800 GT was the price/performance winner for quite a while.

Again a Voodoo II 12MB accelerator card. I was trying to think what 2D card I paired it with, but it was probably a S3 Virge. That was the first and only card where I upgraded the memory from 1MB to 2MB with a push in chip.

Not bad at all. You have a very pretty system there. :)

Thanks !

It's been 13 years since I could throw caution to the wind and just buy the best of everything. Will be nice to have a rig that doesn't need upgrading every time a new game comes out.

Nice Andy, i recently changed from that Cosmos case, the bloody thing weighs a tonne  Had the same Mobo as you as well :)
Anyway the 8800GTX for me. Still have it :D

I still have mine too. :p

Thinking on it the 8800 was fantastic as well. It died ages ago but I baked it and it has been fine for over a year since. :p

Also my GTX480. Bloody horrific loud thing. It was amazing. Moved from a laptop with an HD4530M to that.

Oh yeah I forgot ! EVGA hard SLI bridges. I know it's not technically a graphics card but they are amazing. I've got mine coming today :D

The 8800 Ultra made me go wow. I love that cooler. Oh, and the GTX 580 Classified was a stunner too !

That's a pair of 480s in the pic above. Take away the heat and the noise they were brilliant cards. A bit like my 290s :p

Anyone remember the Matrox G200? That was also an epic card - Excellent 2D and Direct 3D on one chip, only just beaten by the Voodoo2 which cost more and was 3D only!
