Graphics cards to get more expensive

God forbid Nvidia have to reduce their margins
We all know that isn't happening....

Paid around £400 for my 1070 4 years ago (albeit with a free PSU, which I never used!) and that's about all I'm willing to pay this time, hoping for around double the performance.
Ideally hoping for 6700xt to get back down to 'MSRP', or what it would have been before things got daft

Yeah, I've had enough now, paid £480 for a 3060ti in Dec and that turned out to be a decent deal (if you remove the FE from the equation) but it's still too much. Overall it's too expensive now, I have a pretty good set up that will handle all the strategy titles and MMO's I play for years to come, when my GPU and CPU can no longer handle the demanding titles I might want to play in the future, I'll buy a console and play them on that, I'll keep the PC ticking over for the less demanding games, the MMO's and the strategy game I can't play on console anyway.

Yep don't blame ya. I've spent a lot on a new 55inch OLED TV but its not just for the PS5, and will last years and the picture quality is stunning. Gotta say games look better on it than my PC and I've got a decent PC with a ryzen 3600 and 2070S. The main thing is I don't see that many great games that I'd rather play on PC. I can't play shooters on console but the few that come out can always play on PC with settings turned down a bit. I was going to get resident evil 8 on PC but after reading about it, it looks awesome on PS5 so will just get it on that, also going to get returnal.

Id pay 1k for the GPU that lasts me 3-5 years before really needing to upgrade but the way things are going you'd only get a mid range GPU going forward with that which would last you 2 years at most. Consoles are now showing to look better graphically compared to pcs and the next gen will do that as well have mouse and keyboard for RTS games and such. Pc gaming is a joke right now and the longer it goes like this the more obsolete they become

Yep, 1k wont even get you close to a flagship card next gen I'd imagine. Crazy.

I'll never give up pc gaming because a console is too limited in terms of keyboard/mouse support and mod support. That niche is my reason for being a PC gamer since 1999.

So instead I gave up "current" pc gaming. I just stay a few years behind and get so called "1080p cards" but use but use them for 1440p gaming with high settings and play older games.

Games like Cyberpunk and MS Flight Sim I'll get in a year or two and game at 1440p with a budget GPU.

I don’t mind spending a lot of money on a GPU if it comes bundled with one game.

This, i can afford 50 of them, its ridiculous, raise the price Jensen!!

Don't worry they will be more expensive next time when they realised they ended up in business workstations, servers and gamers plus miners willing to pay anything. If they ever do such a card again it will be for sure over £2.5k Titan prices for Titan class they will say and real Titans if we ever get them again will be £3.5K+. They learned a lesson with this gens release of such cards and will not be making that mistake again, they even started banning blower versions as they were perfect in servers and dense workstations.

Sadly i think you are spot on! I remember fondly buying a 1070 for £350 and thinking its a bargain, now nothing is making sense.
