Ive just realised that we don't actually have any sort of gallery for peoples Photoshop/Vector/3D work on here. I know we are getting the graphics challenge off the ground, but IMO it would also be nice to have a thread just for people to post previous work etc. So ive decided to start one. :) This is what ive spent the evening playing with;

Questions and constructive critisism is very welcome.

Very Nice, any chance of getting it in 1280 x 1024?

Can do, but it might look a bit weird as its designed in widescreen. Do you want it 1280x800, or the sides cropped off or extra black at the top and bottom?

can we post drawings too?

I certainly don't see why not.. post away. :)

nice work there mrdbristol. I did Computer animation at uni, so I know how long it can take to set up only a few seconds of animation. The satisfaction at the end makes up for it though IMO.

Cool Image, What did you use to make it.

All photoshop. Mainly various brushes and a couple of stock texture maps for the planet. Great pic there by the way. Is that done with blurred vectors for the colours?

This one I designed as a giant wallhanging thing. Its been printed out across 20 A4 pieces of paper, and mounted on a board of MDF, with a cold cathode mounted behind. Im quite pleased with how its turned out.

what is the max size for an image that can be posted? i keep on thinking if these are too big or not :o

I'd say all of these are fine. As long as we kpep them roughly 1024x768 or smaller, we should be fine.

Lets try and keep it civil guys. I for one more than welcome constructive criticism. However the key word is constructive. Rather than just saying "Its good" or "Its bad", its always usefull to back it up with why its good or bad, and what can be done to improve it. I think Nimzicki's comments are an ideal example;

The linework shows that there is no confidence in the drawing, its too scratchy, make it one flowing line and it will look a thousand times better. Vary line width to make certain areas pop, finer lines for smaller details, slightly thicker for main outlines etc.

Dont be afraid to use a ruler btw, its a technical drawing, even michaelangelo couldn't draw a straight line freehand

Comments such as these will hopefully help sunlitsix see where he is going wrong and what he needs to work on. I really feel that this could become a very usefull and interesting thread, allowing people to share skills and techniques etc, but we have to make sure it doesn't decent into arguments and bickering.

That looks great. Love the colouring. The only thing that I don't like, is the slight jagged outline around the thing. Is there any way you could fix that?

Any chance of a full size? I really like that :)

What size you after? I made it in Adobe Illustrator so its resolution independant. If the wall hanging version had been calculated in pixels, it would be something like 12000x5000.

Here is what im working on at the moment.

Im really stuck as to how to do the background though. Any ideas? I had though about having her leaning against a car.

I like that one Raikiri. The only problem with it is the light is wrong. The sun is setting below where the planet/moon is, which means that the planet/moon would be light from the bottom rather than the top. If its was a binary star system, you could be lit from both sides, but there way you have it now makes it look out of place and uneasy. Just my 2p worth. :)

Edit; Nice work on the car as well btw.
