Hi all,

Following kind and helpful advice two weeks ago : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17996514

We made the purchase and the package arrived yesterday **YIPPEEE**
It was better than Christmas morning:D:D
We worked from 5:30 until 1:15 am and had to give up from exhaustion:o All is assembled ( although I have a strong feeling that the Noctua is positioned 90º out), but whatever we do our "baby" won't power-up. I have tested the PSU and it's AOK, have re-seated the ram too.

Can anyone help us in our hour of need, please ???:):(:)

(Can take photos if that would be of help:))

firstly check all your power connections, make sure you plugged in both the 24pin and 8 pin ATX leads
secondly does the mobo have a power switch on it? If so try that in case its simply the case button/wiring not working
If still no joy take everything out and try powering up just the mobo outside the case (sometimes if the mobo isnt fitted right the case causes a short), you should be able to hear error beeps, if not then mobo/PSU is dead you could try your old PSU maybe, I know you said you tested PSU but just in case. If you do get beeps then you need to start putting things back in one at a time and powering up after each. First CPU, then one stick of RAM, if it stops at RAM try a different stick, then gfx card, then drives

well if the powersupply is working and hte mobo is geting power, have you connected the case buttons to the mobo? I know its a silly question lol

2nd one did you use the standoff to raise the mobo from the mobo tray?

Thanks guys,

Both power supplies 24 & 8 pin are connected.

Case buttons are connected.

Standoff, Erm..don't remember that one.

Give me 5, I'll take some photos...BRB

Thanks again.

the stand offs are the little brass bits you screw into the case mobo tray and rest mobo on, we wont be able to see them from a pic so you'll have to check

Oh Yes !!

Will the Noctua heatsink/fan have to be rotated (is it possible to remove it from the chip and re-use with all the gunk coolant on it?) by 90º ?

Thanks once again.

thats your problem then, the mobo will be shorting as its in contact with the case, take it all out and use the stand offs. also you might want different screwss, the thumb screws might be convenient but the traditional is to use the small screws in conjunction with the red washers
You prob wont need any spirits, just tissue will suffice if it hasnt hardened
