Graphics help please

Hi all, i'm new to the forums.
I wanted to ask which graphics card i should get,
my current card: 2900pro, doesn't handle shadows and AA good, All i get in some games for a shadow when i have AA on is a square kinda shadow

So i was trying to decide what new card to get and i can't decide between the 4870HD or the GTX260, the GTX is abit cheeper than the 4870, but its also abit slower, however the 4870 has a very high temp, which i dont like so the 4870 would cost me about £25 more than the 260 on paper as ill have to buy a good cooler too,

so i was just wondering is the 4870 worth £25 more than the GTX260??
my budget is about £150-170max

i also have a 3rd option which is too wait a little longer and see if anything new comes out or wait for a good price drop in the two cards.

Pre-empting others questions, what's the rest of your spec like and what resolution do you use?

There isnt much between the GTX260 and HD4870, its swings and roundabouts from game to game. I doubt you will have no shadow or AA problems with either of them though. You dont say what resolution you are using, with 1920 + and lots of AA (8AA+) the 4870 can start to take the lead, but then again its a little bit more expensive.


You will be happy with either. No point waiting around for next gen.
