Hi Guys,

I recently upgraded my TV I use for my PC from a 32" LG 1080p LCD (connected via VGA) which I've had for a few years to a Samsung UE40EH5000 (connected via HDMI). I had a few problems with it looking like it was running a low resolution so I changed the 'Input Type' on the TV for HDMI 1 to PC and it has sorted everything out, or so I thought. Upon loading up any game it starts full screen but looks like it's running a low resolution (TV and CCC reports 1080p/60) or if I press 'Alt+Enter' while in this low res looking mode it improves the picture to how it should look but I see the task bar at the bottom and the window controls at the top so it's looking like it should but it's in a window!??

Never had a problem like this before. Was running 12.10 but have just upgraded to 12.11 beta 11 and it's made zero difference. Is there a setting I need to enable I don't know about!? First time running through HDMI so not 100% sure what the settings should be. Running Windows 8 pro x64 and card is a 7850 OC 2gb.

Cheers!

Just realised the TV is showing 1920 x 1080 / 25p when switching to games when it's normally 1920 x 1080 60Hz in desktop use. Think this is the problem, anyone know how to stop it switching!?

If your running COH through steam set this as a launch option

-refresh 60

It's because your using HDMI, it defaults to the lowest refresh rate with some games.

Another option is to set up a custom res in CCC, 1918 x 1080 worked for me.

That's a problem with crysis not your tv or pc.

The guys at crysis must be useless because it was bad enough in crysis 1 but to have it in all there titles is just very poor effort.

There is varius fixes out there and different ones work for different people.

But for me the thing that worked was going in the in game options and turning off vsync but then back out before it saved. Which seemed to reset it back to 60hz.

google "crysis 24p" and there will be loads of fixes

Also worth noting the ingame vsync is discusting so use your control panel instead. :)

It's not just Crysis though.

Company Of Heroes and Trine also have the same problem.

I haven't played COH or Trine.

But I have played loads of other games and the only ones I found that run at 24p are crysis 1 crysis warhead and crysis 2.

There is loads of forums talking about crysis 24hz bug but here is a link to one

Yeah, Crysis, COH and Trine are the only games I've found to have this problem.

I use a custom res to overcome it which works fine.

Just played L4D2 and that ran perfectly. As you guys say it must be game specific. Just happens that COH is one of the main games I play! I tried using the Direct Refresh app and all that does is forces it into window mode!?

Just add -refresh 60 to the shortcut command line if it's the non-steam version or set as a steam launch option if it's the steam version.

But the best way is to make a custom res of 1918x1080 in CCC and set this as the res in game :)

Just tried creating a 1918 x 1080 resolution and fired up COH and it appears to be working. Was a bit fiddly but worth it as it now works. Thanks a lot, appreciate it :)

Seems like it got sorted - but if there's any trouble with Trine or Trine 2, here's the refresh rate links to help with those: Trine, Trine 2
