graphics jerk

Tbh, I'm having major skipping issues too in FEAR Combat - But not in Oblivion.

FEAR Combat stutters massively at the beginning of a level load, which I put down to lvl loading, but even after the first minute or so after I've run round the map and all map is in memory, I still get pauses in the game play every now and again. Its REALLY annoying in this otherwise great twitch shooter.

If anyone has any further suggestions, I'm willing to hear it. I have a pretty extensive list of things to check and try out, and I *think* my in game stutters could be down to my monitor refresh rate ( I have an old 17" CRT as well :( )

Anyone have any further suggestions to add to the list then ?

Tried a DirectX Update ?

I managed to get hold of the August 2006 Redist. of DirectX 9.0C last night and updated my DX install.

As well as dropping off ALL my settings in FEAR, its helped with a lot of the choppiness I've had.

Im wondering if it could also be PSU related, as the OP has a HiperPwr psu and so do I, although my choppiness comes from FEAR.

hmmmmm ...... how can we tell if its PSU Related ??? My own PSU is the 580Watt non Type-R variant.

In my system I have:

Motherboard: 24pin and 8pin connections.
DVD/CDRW Combo Drive.
Floppy drive
SATA HD
2x 120mm Low speed fans
1x 92mm Medium speed fan
1x 120mm High Speed Fan
W/C Pump
PCI-Ex Video card with 6 pin connector.

OC'd PenD 805 could be sucking a shed load of power I suppose, but not enough to strain my 580Watt system surely ?

Mushkin RAM, Lovely stuff, are the timings at their recommended values? Also perhaps a BIOS update could help you. This could be a motherboard/PCIe issue, and may be resolved in a BIOS update released by ASUS.

I cant see the video posted, So cant see the stuttering unfortunately.

Another thing, Do you run the game as soon as your PC is turned on? Restarted, As i know NOD does an initial scan of your startup files as soon as it loads which I know takes a good couple of minutes, Could be causing your stuttering. Unless of course during the reinstall you didnt put NOD back on.

I think the timings are on default. See this, my CPU-Z stuff. I updated the bios to the latest which is 1013
around a month ago now I would say.

I just found this while looking around

Apparently theres a problem with an XP setting that can cause problems at higher resolutions within Oblivion, I guess it could cause trouble in other games too. hopefully this will help you :)

I'm only running at 1024*768 @ 85Hz :(

Did you fix your problem wolf?

- sorry for bumping these threads but i need to find out if these guys fixed their issues
