Graphics or PSU causing crashes?

Hi guys,
I'm a bit stuck right now, my computer has been getting crashes even on the windows desktop (usually when playing a video, flash in browser or in MPC) and when I try to start a game.
What I'm getting is a black screen, GFX fans on max with audio still playing in the background.

I've swapped out my 6950 for my 4850 and the problem disappears, however I'm still not sure if it's my PSU (Corsair HX520) or GFX as the 4850 uses about half the power.

I think I got the PSU in 2005 so it's pretty much antique now so could well be the culprit especially as performance/efficiency drops off over time.
Thoughts?

edit:
I just tried a PSU calculator online and it says I need a 550W minimum and 600W recommended, considering the age of my PSU it is looking like the culprit.

It was the PSU.. got a Corsair AX750 in there now and it's running fine. It's actually quieter too, I was getting some capacitor whine from the old PSU it seems.
