Graphics problem?

I seem to have a graphics problem, I have had a few game crashes with the coloured bars accross the screen and stuck contsnt stuttering tone sound.

And just now my aero transparent toolbar at teh bottom of my desktop went a solid colour?

My GPU is showing a memio temp of 80c, so I turned the fan up in CCC to 70% and closed teh browser and it became transparent again?

Seems my auto fan does not sense the Memio temps and activate the fan?

Any idea how to sort this? Card is a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GbToxic Edition

Edit, apparently my graphics driver has stopped working 17 times and the last time was at 15/11/09 at 0106h. Yet I have the latest drivers installed?

Is the card OCd at all? If so remove OC
If not you can set up manual fan profile which should force them to spin at set speeds, bypassing the auto function

Hi Rifles,

The card is running stock, I am unsure what the temps should be but I expected lower, and it seems to have got hotter with age? (bought 25/03/09)

These are my settings, those temps are with teh side of the case off, as I thought I would clean the dust out the inside. It is at least a bit quieter with the side open :)
I guess I could try underclocking it, which seems a waste as I bought it due to it's spec, claimed cool running and supposed silence.

Your temps are fine, nothing to worry about there, whilst you havent OCd the card it is running at the toxics factory OC which may have become unstable, try running at stock 750/900 and see if that fixes, if it does you may be able to claim under warranty because as you say no point buying an OC product to have to UC it and run at stock
Other than that as I say the fan profiles can be manually set
