Graphics Tablets

Congrats skippi! My brother has exactly the same one. However, he only used it for about 30 seconds. It's been sitting next to his trash can for several months. :(

The so called 'older' balck bamboo isn't older at all its just a different model with the same resolution as all the other bamboos and same features except the bamboo fun which doesn't have the buttons on it.

Also the resolution of the bamboo is at the same level as photoshops maximum, so even if you spend hundreds ona graphire or other more expensive model with better resolution it would make stuff all difference as photoshop doesn't support it and I doubt you use CorelDRAW, which I know nothing about so I couldn't comment there.

Yeah, I was thinking of the Bamboo One I think. :o Didn't want skippi90 buying an old bit of kit at a silly price. I prefer the look of the black unit but I was steered away from it with comments in the Wacom forums about excessive buzzing noises at the time (since resolved). I eventually got the Fun when they came out despite being horrible white things (with 4 buttons I should add!)

Skippi90 - post your artwork when you're ready! Or are you still doing scribbles and signatures with a smile on your face! Some of the stuff people do with Art Rage alone impresses me. Have a look in their galleries/forums.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it Skippi...it took me a while ;)

Glad you got one mate :)

lol you've done better than I've done with mine already, I rarely use it.

I've never been much of an illustrator though I suppose, but I do want to have a bit of time getting properly used to it one day.

Keep letting us know how you get on :)

I have a little Wacom Graphire 4, and it's great (I got it dirt cheap on the bay a couple of years ago and it still works perfectly!). [...]

Here's a link that'll come in handy when your Graphire 4 pen inevitably loses its rubber grippy bit ;) :

http://www.tablet4u.co.uk/products/en/1_tools-for-all-models.html

We used Graphire 4s where I used to work, and every single one of the pens had the rubber perish, crumble and fall off. Then again, we were using them all day, every day, so you might be okay for a while if you only pick them up occasionally.

I also found the 4's pen to be far too thick and unwieldy compared to the previous versions' one-piece slimline pens. In my experience, all pens work with all versions, so when it comes to a replacement, look at getting one of the earlier ones - or one from the new Bamboo, as they're similar to the old pens [and I imagine you can get to test drive one in a shop beforehand to see if it fits your hand better].

Good choice, Skip - the Bamboo, as I've recently discovered, is a great little tablet :)
