Graphics upgrade advice?

Ok guys as my 9800GT is faulty and i'm unable to RMA i'm looking for a graphics card to power a 22" Monitor that I shall be getting soon.

I'm currently looking at the 4850 and 4870 series of cards but unsure as to whether the extra 512mb of onboard memory is worth the much higher price?

Can anyone advise? From comparisons that i've seen the 4850 512mb performs extremely highly and is well up there with the top ATi cards.

I will be wanting the card to perform fairly well in games like farcry2/left 4 dead etc at 1680x1050 resolution.

Any advice is warmly received (if it helps I shall also be upgrading to i7 after xmas too)

A 4850 should do you fine, and ati are pulling their socks up on the driver side of things. However if you can find a cheapish 1gb 4850 theres no reason not to get it, it can only help...

a 4850 512mb is more than adequate at 1680x1050, and there is one in the MM at the moment

ooo and if I struggle I could always get another and crossfire them on my i7 setup
