graphics choices, what to do.

i have a gtx 670 2gb and i have found another that might (most likely) be for sale soon.

so do i buy the 2nd gtx 670 and go sli or sell mine giving me around £300 total spends for another single card with possibly more vram?

wattage calculator comes out with 650w so i should be ok on that front with my 750w, right?

res is 1920 x 1080, decision to upgrade brought on by watch dogs :D

For 1080p you won't get close to 670 SLI performance on a new card in the £300 price range.

You'd need a 780 TI or the best R9 290X's to get around that level of performance, in most cases they will be just below the 670 SLI performance.

The slowest R9 290X cost £360 - £390, but there performance hit with these. I guess you can overclock them to some extent.


What PSU do you have and what case do you have as two GPUs will add more heat, a small case might be a problem.

I've got a gigabyte 670 sli and sapphire 290x
the 670 sli wins hands down.
In the end i gave the 290x to my sons pc and and still running the sli.
With your budget i would get another 670 if psu and case can take it.
 
case is a Tt chaser A31, a mid size tower. psu is a 750 ocz fatality.

i was pretty sure that the 670's in sli wouldn't be beat on price but, iv always thought 1 card is best. less noise, less heat, less power and most importantly less problems.

i guess now sli has moved on loads since the early days.. so would you say its a no brainer??
 
Go sli. 2gb will be fine at 1080p and see you into this time next year im sure no problems
 
The case and PSU should be fine with GTX 670 SLI, so yeah it's a no brainer with your budget.

SLI is certainly a lot better these days, not 100% perfect, but with supported games it's normally a case of having the correct drivers installed.

You also have the benefit of GPU redundancy, if one cards fails you have one as backup you just take a performance hit. :P
 
right, just have to try and get that matching msi 670 now! i know i could use another brand, but im fussy so it has to be another msi twin frozr :p
 
Your psu will be more than fine with sli 670's. Iirc when i ran two, total system draw at the wall in games was 430w ono. Good board spacing will also really help, particularly if you use two non reference cards like twin frozr's.
 
well thats good news for the psu.. but i'll need to try and source or make some more gpu power cables. i absolutely hated the 'flat' cables that came with the fatality so i used the ones from my modXstream and that only had 1 pair of braided cables. ho hum.
 
Can you not hide the flat cables and use a few braided extensions? Im not a fan of flat cables either, (own a corsair HX850). So i stuck some extensions on the end and kept the corsair cables out of sight.
 
i could.. but no. they will be different and it'll bother me lol. just taken a stanley to the flats.. it'll come off! :D gonna be f@%&£! off i dont get this 2nd msi 670 now
 
fiddlesticks :( he/ they are asking too much for the 670. so iv put mine up for sale and bought myself a gtx 760! .. with a 2nd being ordered next pay day :D
 
from what iv seen in reviews it is only down by a few frames. i doubt id be able to notice the difference. its only for a month until i get the 2nd 760 and i'll have full warranty with them being new.
