Lovely people of the Forums. I am going to I invest in a GFX card for one of my systems- infact im up grading them bit by bit every month but time has come for a GFX card upgrade for one of the machines. I play Eve mostly and current system spec is

FX8350, 16GB RAM GTX 560Ti

I only game at 1080p and I’m happy at that Resolution as the days of me trying to have the best are a long way gone.

I am going to buy an upgrade to pair with the CPU & was looking at the 290X or 970

Would these be the best choice? Thanks for looking

It would be best to wait until June, when AMD releases their new cards, as there will probably be discounts for the 290x and the 970.

If you can't wait, both cards are more than enough for 1080p and will run any game without issues. If I were you, I'd go for a 290 at £200.
 
290x is better price per £ than the 970 but you'll need a decent PSU to run it. The 970 is probably the best bet at 1080p anyway if you can pick one up sub £250.

Personally I'd wait for the new AMD lineup as mentioned above and see what it shakes out.
 
3xx series is not confirmed for June fact! Maybe its not even called 3xx who knoiws!!

Out of current series R290 is a great card at this price range and handles your res easy. Slightly above is 970 but again a good card and with Gibbos game deals also seems a great choice.

Guys no one cares about spelling. No need for that stuff all the time.
