I've just come home from shopping and forgot to buy gravy for a Tesco chicken and gravy pie, the gravy being on the inside of the pie of course. I've only got beef flavoured gravy granules. As I can't be bothered to go out again to buy chicken gravy, do you think the beef granules would work or taste far too wrong?

If there is one life skill you must learn it is to make your own gravy, Bisto etc do not enhance any meal.
Chicken gravy is super easy when doing a roast. Beef not so much as there’s far less juice. I added some bisto to help finish my chicken gravy the other week, and it flipping ruined it!

Yeeeeeeeee, see........

I can go both ways. (Insert joke)

Roast dinners I'll normally make my own, but something like sausage mash and onion gravy, fry some finely chopped onions in a bit of oil first, then boiling water and Bisto finest, can't go wrong.

I mean unless your either regularly making and saving stock, or buying it and making gravy, which is expensive, I think just add water has its place, gotta be the good stuff though, cheap supermarket instant gravy is pretty vile.

Bisto best onion gravy is very good. I have it with things like sausage and mash or gammon, mash and cabbage.

In fact, all Bisto best gravy is top notch.

Ok, I will relent just a little bit, Bisto has its place only in Extreme circumstances when there is no other option , I'm a bit of a gravy snob as I find the instant kind slimy salty gloop and have never found anything shop bought that comes anywhere near the flavour of proper gravy. Best thing to do is make a lot of it when you have a roast on and freeze for another time.
