So your using this little online MPG calculator then*Wanders off muttering about how people can't do mental arithmetic these days*
Thankshttp://www.fuel-economy.co.uk/calc.shtml
I find this one much better. More options.
You can tell it how many miles you are going to do, at what mpg, and at what fuel cost and it will tell you how much it would cost for the journey. I often use it to decide whether to get the train or to drive.
25mpg so how on earth can I do 12000 mile for £27.60 :/
Nothing I can't do with a boggo calculator, here is the run down to Portsmouth.
Your fuel consumption
(42.7 MPG) (15.1 Km per litre)(6.60 litre per 100Km)
Averaging 12.6 pence per mile
(40+ mpg for petrol is good under 23 is bad)
So 640 miles would cost £80.64
And IBM are giving me 20p a mile, £47.36 up.![]()
Why would you need that?
Surely you can do rough MPG calculations in your head. It's not hard.

For some people like myself that can't work out the figures in my head in about 10 seconds....It faster and easyer to type a few numbers into an online calculator and press return...Precisely, what does this do that i cant do with run>calc or in my head?
