The company and love I get from my dogs more than makes up for the points you mention.

Surprised nobodies dogs in this thread are either seriously ill or dead. Chocolate is highly poisonous to dogs and eating cakes..
Bread, pizza all very bad for dogs,
In regards to the dog smell, that is directly related to what the dog eats, if it eats a poor quality diet, they'll sweat the toxins out through there fur making the smell "doggy".
Give them a good diet and i can guarantee you they will never smell.
You would think my dog Louie (The Spaniel) would be dead with the amount of bread and chocolate cake he has stolen in the past but he's the picture of health. Lovely coat, no bad smell and he's alert and very active. They always go out once a day for a couple of hours off the lead. We've never had any health problems with them so far *touch wood*.
The chocolate issue is a bit like roulette, the more they eat the more dangerous it becomes.
Theobromine is the chemical that can and does kill dogs, 100 and 150 milligrams per KG of dog weight will kill the dog. Different types of chocolate contain different amounts of theobromine: It would take 20 ounces of milk chocolate to kill a 20-pound dog, but only 2 ounces of baker's chocolate or 6 ounces of semisweet chocolate. But thankfully its like a lottery. Some dogs take one bite and they die, others like your dog devour an entire cake and there fine.
A couple of the cakes were cheap store bought cakes, one sister bought when she passed her A-Levels and another was one her friend bought round the day they finished school. I would query there actual chocolate content of both cakes, it's probably how he survived eating them.
Aye true. The key is Flavour and Flavoured. Flavour meaning is tastes LIKE chocolate but doesn't contain any. Flavoured being contains chocolate.
A picture of my dogs? http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13778651&postcount=21Would love to see some pics.
Had a right scare with our Springer last night - thought he was in the early stages of bloat.
Had a mate visiting who decided to have a go at a KFC 10-piece bucket by himself. He made it through 5 pieces then hocked the rest to the dog. Dog eats a few, waits for a bit, then starts parading a piece around for about 10 minutes before eventually wolfing it down.
5 minutes later he starts lying down and crying at random. His midriff barrelled up and felt hard, but he didn't seem really out of character (besides crying).
The Mrs. got a ball out and threw it back and forth for him for a bit and he was playing just fine, then suddenly stopped, cried and lay down. We were absolutely terrified.
Looked up bloat symptoms on the net, but thankfully he didn't meet them -- his stomach was making lots of gurgling noises and he wasn't listless or dry heaving - gums looked fine too.
Went to bed and this morning his stomach's down and he's happy as larry. Looks like he got a taste of what happens when you eat too much - indigestion and an overstuffed stomach. Probably lay downstairs the whole night farting.
How come the dog left the pizza all alone until you had woken up, seen the pizza, planned to eat it, and then eat it itself?? WHy not eat it in the middle of the night?
And as for the dude chucking KFC to his dog... surely the bigger risk is the small bones which could easily lodge in the dogs throat ?
