Green Tea??

Top tip, make it weak.

When I started drinking green tea I was letting it stew for ages and it tasted horrible.

Just let it infuse a few seconds, and then strain (or remove the bag).

You can re-use the tea/bag for 3 or 4 cups. :)

Thanks for that I would have done the same I think if you hadn't said..also didn't realize you could use it again :)

doesn't have to be fresh - the dried stuff is fine.
it also contains the same amount of caffeine as black tea - its the same, it just hasn't been fermented.

i drink oolong - its half fermented, so halfway between green and black.

edit: oh yeah, get it from a chinese supermarket - anywhere else is a total rip off to con middle class people.

After seeing your post for this site a while ago (I think it was you, anyway) I was tempted to get one of those explorer sets as a Christmas present; is the 'teaiere' worth it, or just a re-branded coffee cafetiere.. or does a teapot do a better job anyway?

The teaiere is just the same as a coffee one. I got it because I didn't have one and because it's a really nice size if you're the only one who wants a cuppa. ;)

I'm not sure how it compares to a teapot though...

Note that there are lots of different sorts of Green Tea so you may well like one but really dislike another. I tend to drink Japanese green tea.

Personally I prefer it cold, unflavoured and unsweetened, after drinking litres of the stuff from vending machines and convenience stores whilst on holiday in Japan, but that can be a bit of an acquired taste. I normally take a 1 litre thermos of it to work most days as a replacement for the soft drinks I used to drink during the day ... as it's cheaper and has way less sugar (i.e. none). My Dad on the other hand prefers it with lemon or mint.

Personally I get my tea from Mount Fuji (i.e. their packs of 10 Sencha tea bags for use in making cold green tea).

I would personally buy a small pack of Clipper green tea bags for around £1 before you splash out on "proper" green tea and teapots etc, just incase you dont like it. I love it though, usually get the Clipper Lemon flavour teabags :)

I will take a look
How much do you drink a day and how long would 150g last you

I am a tea monster when it comes to PG just gone my first week with no sugars I was having 4 in each cup:eek: I am always hungry now!

150g will last you two months at least, if not three.

You really don't need to put that much in: I put too much in according to the 'experts' as you need about a teaspoon of tea leaves to make a cup. That can then make two additional cups. Just start off with a teaspoon and then brew it properly and see where it takes you; you eventually find the strength that you like the most.

Plus you can order the tea online with that shop too :D

100% mate. ******* delicious. Plus the stuff you get now is from the new growth (I always chat to the dude in the shop) which he was saying was going to be nice.

i have been ill for the past few days (chest infection) so this might be a big factor

Well yesturday i was in Costa & had no idea they do green tea as i saw someone else get one. I then looked at sainsburys green tea (own brand) as twinings was out of stock :( .. so today 2nd day of drinking it and its making me feel nauseous.

It makes me laugh when people drink it for "health benefits". By all means drink it, but if you don't enjoy it, then it won't last and the odd up for a week is not going to do you any good.

I drink at least once a day, because i do like the taste, it makes a change from coffee.

i get twinnings standard green tea, not tried any of the added stuff, i let it brew for about a minute as reccomended on the box. first cup i had i let it brew for abotu 5 minutes and was horrid :p

Since starting to drink loose leaf tea I've been enjoying some different types of green tea, gunpowder is my favourite it's really quite lovely. Green tea is a very relaxing drink.

Big fan of both green tea and redbush tea. Green tea in the morning, ordinary tea at work when I'm flagging a bit and then redbush in the evening as it has no caffeine so doesn't stop me sleeping. Bit of a coffee feind as well but the machine at work is horrible whereas the tea is just about palatable (only just mind).

What's wrong with Twinings green tea in tea bags? No caffeine in them either so it says on the box...*

*ignore this - I was looking at the peppermint tea box
