Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 15th Aug 2021]

Well I hope you're on the receiving end of a few of these and I'll gladly tell you that it's ok that you didn't win because it was a much better game.
Salah and Mane bought a lot of fouls, within the laws of the game, last year which they won't get this season. As long as every team's treated the same, I have no issue with it but you're going to have to accept that not every tackle that leads to James or Fernandes rolling around on the floor is a foul.

James never gets fouls. I reckon he is one of the least likely players to get a foul in the league. Fernandes goes down easily too often but then sometimes people just foul him because hes a good player. The line is very fine.

Less that he's a good player and more because he's on the ball so much. Same with Messi, Salah, Neymar and just about any influential player.

Seeing how the refs deal with Kane backing in to players and Grealish running straight at players legs and flopping to the floor will be interesting tomorrow.

That definitely plays a part but there is a strong correlation between how hard a player is to dispossess and the amount they are fouled. Neymar gets fouled a lot. I don't have an issue with that. I just hate his theatrics and trying to get players sent off for 90 minutes solid. I can't help but hate that.

I honestly don't think Grealish dives that much. He is genuinely fouled a lot. He might go down a bit easy at time but he gets fouled. Kane on the other hand is massively devious. If he is in a useless situation that won't lead to a goal he will dive. He will turn his back to a player and as soon as he feels any contact he flops on the ball. If he goes past a player and not directly onto goal he will leave a leg behind to force contact and then go down. Don't get me started on his backing into players jumping for a header. Thats just straight up dangerous.

He certainly gets some rough treatment but he has a tendency to run diagonally across players leaving them nowhere to go, the flop and roll just emphasises the contact. I see that as buying a foul, others don't, so it'll all come down to how refs see that kind of contact this season.

Very happy with the result. Especially without Sancho, Varane, Rashford and Cavani.

I knew Fred had a decent Copa but he was very good as well. The goal will do wonders for his confidence. Both McSauce and Fred were always looking for that forward pass.

Even AWB took on and beat a man!

Chelsea are a new money club so will not be many on here due to the age demographic. Most Man City fans don't even have pubes.

Wheres Bizkid when you need him eh.

First round of matches are giving us some good candidates for the sack race. Viera has to be another one that will probably not last the season.
