Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 17th May 2021]

If Jack Harrison had 9 goals and 8 assists for his parent club, Man City, he’d be in the England squad, not sure why he doesn’t get even talked about for the squad.

Here we go, 15 minutes left, Fulham get one back

Edit - Walcott has saved the day (hopefully)

Watching Bissouma it's easy to believe the reports linking him with us. He's so similar to Wijnaldum in the way he plays. He's probably not as physical as Wijnaldum, although does probably offer a bit more in terms of forward passing, but the way he gets around the pitch, doing all the dirty work and having the confidence to take the ball in tight areas and run through midfield is identical to Gini.

Apparently we’re after him too

A draw still keeps them out of reach of Leicester so I'll take that :D
It might only be a small difference but I think West Ham winning would have been better for Leicester. If Leicester have dropped enough points to allow West Ham to catch them then Liverpool would have probably caught them anyway. West Ham dropping points now gives Spurs something to play for on the last day with 6th place taking the final Europa League spot & 7th going into the Europa conference League.

Yea, I saw. No offence but if we are after him then I think we'll get him over your lot.
Last player who had a choice chose us. London’s a big draw Baz, and you’ve won sweet FA this season. Plus he might feel he’ll get more starts at Arsenal.

Who was this player that chose Arsenal over Liverpool? I genuinely can't think of any player in recent history joining Arsenal when we were interested in them? I can think of players leaving Arsenal (despite being offered more money) to join Liverpool though. And you can say we won nothing but we're a much much better side with far greater prospects of winning major titles (rather than being in a long, slow decline), we have quite probably the most desireable manager to play under and we pay far bigger wages.

Alexis

How do you pay far higher wages? We have two players on higher wages than any Liverpool player

You might be right but I expect Leicester to drop enough points for Liverpool to catch us anyway, it's just whether you can win all your games.

So a player that joined Arsenal before you became rubbish and at a time when you were paying bigger wages than us? Since then a player chose to reject a contract offer (for more money) to stay at Arsenal, to join us.

As for paying far higher wages. Our wagebill last season was around £320m, compared to around £220m for Arsenal. That's a big difference. Liverpool have done well to make people believe their highest earners are on £2.45 + a bag of quavers per week but it's just not true.

edit: anyway, I said no offence so don't be offended. It's not an outrageous opinion that if a player had a choice between Liverpool and Arsenal right now that they'd choose Liverpool.

If you only pick up 1 or 0 points from your last 2 then we wouldn't need to win all 3, which is what I was getting at with the Spurs/West Ham point. Spurs on the beach on the final day makes that prospect a lot less likely than now they have a prize to play for.

Looking at the fixtures, I think it's quite possible if not likely that 7 points will be enough for us. That would require either Leicester picking up no more than 1 point or Chelsea no more than 3 and with you playing each other, it makes one of those scenarios very possible.

Yeah, you would definitely be favourites, but it’s not impossible that a player would choose to stay south in London with a better chance of first team football.
