I’m at a loss as to how one is off and the other is on
Why? It's very simply, the Arsenal forward was ahead of the Fulham defender and with the Fulham penalty, the Arsenal defender was ahead of the Fulham forward.I’m at a loss as to how one is off and the other is on
Disagree mate.VAR is not to blame for either decision being made
VAR is there to implement the rules and like it or not, those are the rules around offsides. There always has and always will be marginal offsides, we just never got to see how close they were. I can only assume that peoples complaints are because we're now spending time, discovering something is marginally offside rather than just previously accepting the lino's call.
All this is going to change sooner or later though with more accurate and quicker technology.

Only for the visually impaired.Disagree mate.
Fulham pen, the guy was offside as much as arsenal attacker was offside for the disallowed goal
These millimeter decisions are ridiculous though. There is no advantage whatsoever which is what the offside rule is trying to prevent. Then add decisions like that penalty and the whole lot just seems a joke. VAR has brought nothing good to the game, its not even enjoyable to watch most of the time these days.
I don't disagree with the overall point about VAR but you cannot blame VAR for doing exactly what it's supposed to do.These millimeter decisions are ridiculous though. Should be centre of mass/gravity. It's not hard to see someone in motion and draw a line down the body.
As I said, I agree with the general point about VAR. I've always said that the only thing I'd add was an automated system that can rule on offsides - var for subjective decisions is a waste of time. Some of the complaints about VAR are misguided though - it's not VAR's fault that the Arsenal goal was ruled out, the law is that he was offside.VAR has added more controversy. The opposite of what it was supposed to do. When it was introduced they should have tweaked the offside rule accordingly or just done it like Rugby. If by a still its not clear then go with on field decision. As for the penalty I don't even know how that was allowed. No contact, 100% clear that Gabriel made no attempt or motion to the player, 1 Swan dive later and we're losing to a team who haven't made a single chance against us.
