Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 22nd June 2020]

I honestly feel he didn't go for the ball, I think he went for the keeper.
A player that pulls another player's shirt isn't going for the ball, nor is a player that trips the opposition player. Intent doesn't matter, in fact I'd guess that the majority of red card challenges don't have any intent. The decision the ref has to make is whether a challenge has been made with excessive force that's likely to cause an injury. You can say it was a needless challenge but it's not like he's launched himself into Leno and absolutely flattened him. It was just unfortunate. You could repeat that situation 100 times and Leno wouldn't be injured again. I'd go as far as to say we probably see 4 or 5 similar challenges every game, with attackers/defenders going up for a header and the opposition player just jumps into them to stop them getting a clean header.

Bit of a meh game. We were lacking any sharpness in attack and came up against an Everton side that put 9 men behind the ball - it was always going to be a grind. In hindsight it might have been better to start with Ox and Gini and then bring Keita and Minamino on in the second half.

For all the talk of how people aren't enjoying the football, City - Arsenal was the most viewed non Liverpool or Utd game in PL history, Bournemouth - Palace then broke the record for the most watched game in PL history and that was then smashed by the Everton - Liverpool game.

7 years and counting Adam and further behind 1st place than ever before. In fact you're closer to the relegation places than the title.
Arsenal and City yeah I tuned in for that one but the others breaking records is just because they were free to air. It's what 30+ years since a league game has been free to air?
It's clearly not just because they were free to air or else the Arsenal - City game wouldn't have done so well. Similarly, the first weekend that the Bundesliga returned (not sure what's happened since) BT had 20-25% more viewers for the Dortmund game than what they got on average for a PL game - this wasn't free to air, a chunk of subscribers had paused their subscriptions and with BT showing a couple of other games at the same time. Viewing figures are massively up than ever before.

Just stating facts rob. I know you Arsenal and Utd supporters keep going on about history because you're useless now. I like to live in the present.

edit: and a more serious note. You've got a cheek to call me snappy when you get upset by literally everything.
