Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd/29th May 2022]

I would argue it's mainly non Liverpool fans who expect Liverpool to win the CL. Liverpool fans themselves seem less convinced, which i'd say is natural.

Problem is that Non Liverpool fans make up the majority (which is a good thing), and so people come up with nonsense comments like the above.
It was the same with the quadruple talk. There were next to no Liverpool supporters talking up the prospects of it. All the noise was coming from the press and non Liverpool fans.

I'm sure Canos will be getting an absolute rocket for the next few days, changed the game without doubt although you'd have hoped we could have capitalised against 10 men, we needed luck and got it, and I think over the course of the season more than deserved some...

The board needs to learn from this, bring in some decent players, replace Raphinha :)(), tie-down Kalvin to a new contract and build, hopefully, next season is a decent one.
Going to be an interesting summer for Leeds, that's for sure. The big question is what happens to KP, and if Marsch has the ability to get them playing actual football rather than running on the drive and emotion drawn from the previous manager - similar situation faced by Sheff Utd when they ran out of steam and then opponents remembered they were playing against Championship quality players!

I think Leeds easily have enough talent to get there though. Impressed by Gelhart yesterday.

Only a few incidents yesterday, with a Leeds fan bottling a Brentford supporter in the pub by the ground...

Dunno what's going to happen to us this summer. A few upgrades and we could easily become a mid-table side - a RB/RWB, and one or two forwards/wide players, maybe even a CB. But much of that is going to come down to whether Eriksen stays.

With him on board the level of player we can attract will go up a much notch or two. Without him we could struggle to bring in players who are obvious improvements.

Next season I'm going to be taking my the year old son to games! It's either that or not being able to go at all!

Anyway you said Everton would get relegated , so you lost the bet. You owe me £5 and a packet of pork scratchings. ;)

Next year :p

Genuinely I think your in really in trouble next year. Not being able to spend money and having to sell anyone worth more than 10m. I fear Lampard will need a season of loans.

As for talk of Quad being stupid, of course it wasn't. They were 1 point away from it happening and the CL final. So clearly not mad. Ignoring the Liverpool fans which neutrals actually think Madrid should win? As has been pointed out they have ridden their luck big time. Liverpool have a week to recover and I think they will be fine.

Arrogant proclamations about the quad have made some look a bit silly. ;)

I expect Liverpool to beat Real Madrid but it's not a formality by any means. I think Michael Owen said on BT Sport he thought Liverpool had an 80% chance of winning the final.

Again 1 point away. That's not arrogance it's honesty. I can't stand all the negative nellies that talk down their team and chances all the time so they don't jinx it. If you had no dog in the Madrid Liverpool game you wouldn't give Madrid much chance. City too should have smashed them and should have won the tie in the first half of the first leg. I agree with Owen, most people would expect Liverpool to be large favourites. Same as the Liverpool fans thought City were heavy favs to smash Madrid.

It will be a tough season that’s for sure, but we have some players out of contract so that will free up some wages to get some fresh legs in.

What Makes me laugh is we’ve offered James Tarkowski 90k a week to join us.:o:o Already trying to buy relegated players. We will never learn!

There is a world of difference between saying something might be possible and claiming it will absolutely happen, as you did. The law of averages told you that the chances of doing the treble were tiny. Looking at Liverpool's PL fixtures from the draw vs City and tell me what percentage chance you gave Liverpool in each of those games. Even if you thought we had a 90% chance of winning each game in isolation, which is optimistic considering our fixtures, the chances of winning every single one of them is therefore less than 50%. On top of that we had to get past Villarreal, beat City in the FA Cup, beat Chelsea in the FA Cup and then beat one of Real or City in the CL Final. Lets say you're giving us a 90% chances vs Villarreal too but the remaining 3 games are not much more than a coin flip. For arguments sake lets say we had a 60% chance in all 3 - the overall percentage likelihood is now down below 10% that Liverpool could do the quadruple.

You continually make brash statements and more often than not have been wrong.

My Dad and Brother left the ground early as the mood was getting pretty sour and could tell there was going to be trouble, they said the most depressing thing was that a lot of the people leaving where City fans! Imagine abandoning your team on a day like that regardless of the scoreline, shameful really.

Overall though I felt we played really. We where stunning defensively for 70 minutes. Couldn't take my eyes of Chambers, he was astonishing for most of the game.
The thing we need to work on is our confidence and composure. So often we concede and it's game over and against a team like City they'll milk that mentality for all it's worth.

Seen some more videos of this. There is barely anyone there, its actually embarrassing. Imagine being Haaland swapping Dortmund for that dross, still he gets paid well.

But like you see with the glory hunters from the 90s disappearing, loads of kids are wearing Liverpool or City shirts now, it will just be an endless cycle of glory hunters. Gone are the days of supporting your local club. I'm sure in 15 years when they've won their 20th title they'll have more fans there.
