Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 26th April 2021]

Both Leicester goals were cracking finishes and Iheanachos goal was a thunderbolt.

Balbuena’s red card was rightfully overturned on appeal. It kinda sums up the standard of current refereeing when a top league ref looks at that pitch side and thinks it’s a red card.

Don't have an issue with Kavanagh, he let it go but was convinced it should've been a red when the VAR ref (Oliver) told him to look at it.

Oliver then showed him a slow motion replay and a freeze frame to convince Kavanagh he was wrong so it's Oliver, who's made a lot of very basic mistakes this season, that should be held accountable. Instead, he'll be raised above the shoulders of other refs when the PGMOL have their award ceremony at the end of the season and announce the winner of the prestigious 'who ruined the most matches this season' award.

The only time slow motion replays should be used is in determining contact. Outside of that they should play absolutely no part in VAR decisions.

The number of times VAR has made the wrong decision because they have looked at an incident at 1/20th speed and decided that the player intentionally did something that was completely accidental or decided that (like in Balbuenas case) the contact was sustained and nasty is beyond a joke. When you see the Balbuena one in real time its all over in a flash. In slow mo it looks like he kicks the ball, follows through intentionally and perfectly and continuously rakes down the other guys calf.

Does anyone really think VAR has been good for football at this point. Goals be chalked off due to offsides measured in mm, red cards being given for nothing, goals chalked off because of a minor, debatable foul 20s earlier.

I don't honestly care that much about the "we can't celebrate anymore" part. I care that despite VAR supposedly catching mistakes, its causing just as many as it solves and things that are clear to every man and his dog are being ignored by referees.

I have nothing against VAR, personally I think it needs to stay. The system is fine, it's just being run by a bunch of monkeys currently that can't make their mind up as a group between one week and the next what is and isn't a penalty/red card, that's not VARs fault.

Offsides - They're following the law, that's fine, but it is **** and hopefully the rule will be adjusted somehow.

I think it's causing even more controversy. Yes ref's are rubbish sometimes but i'd rather they got it wrong and it was done with in seconds rather than minutes of VAR deciding and still getting it wrong.
