Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th April 2022]

Watching MOTD. Fernandes is such an outrageously dislikeable footballer. Whingy, niggly fouls, snide little man.

Yeah, I just watched it too, the analysis on his 'yellow' ball was 6 yards away and gone and he continued that ankle breaking challenge. Honestly VAR is inexcusable there. All his diving, whining, ref harrassing and dirty tackles, no surprise so many hate him. Whole country celebrated when he did that stupid hop skip jump on the pena.

No team in premier league history has had 0 wins in the first 14 games and survived, Until now. We also only had 1 win in the first 20 games but have 10 wins in 14 this year. Even with the investment that turn around from Eddie Howe & the team is amazing!

It’s a shame you know how it will go with Howe, the expectations will be horrendous and you can see him being sacked by Xmas unless your not top four. Then the merry go round of managers will occur, although probably very big names. Still, he’s showed he is a PL manager again and will not have to opt for the Championship to boost his CV.

Do you know, after emery turned us down I was gutted Howe was appointed, not because I thought he was a poor manager, but because I thought his style of play wouldn’t work for a team that couldn’t defend for toffee and his teams traditionally let in a lot of goals, boy am I so glad to be absolutely wrong. I disagree about expectations though every fan knows that the team needs a complete rebuild and the board have already said money isn’t going to be thrown around willynilly I think if we aim for 10-8 next season with us actually trying in the cups for a change the fans will be happy.

I wasn’t talking about fan expectations (although that might change depending on signings) I mean the boards expectations. If you finish 9th then they’ll expect a lot better next season etc

I don’t think there is any chance of us finishing 9th TBH, finishing 9th would mean we have beaten arsenal and Burnley and taken a point from either Liverpool or City
I see your point with regards to expectations, yes if we spend say £150m+ and some free transfers then you could be right the board’s expectations might be a little too high, but if we spend what we spend in January plus some free transfers I feel they will be lower.
They have always said it’s at least minimum of a 5 year plan and I don’t think anyone believes we will be higher than top 8 next season, also we really have to learn from the likes of Everton, villa and Fulham that you can’t just ***** money and expect to be successful, as far as I’m concerned we’re about 8 years behind everyone else because of Ashley’s greed and lack of investment and refusal to try and grow Newcastle commercially.

How’s Willock doing these days? Bit worried for him when the cash started flowing. Thought he might get squeezed out.

He was well and truly Bruced at the start of the season and was terrible, but like every player(with the exception of ASM) after howe’s coaching it’s like watching different players, I would like to see him play behind the striker as he’s got a great engine

No other team in history had been able to go from relative poverty to the richest club in the league. It's not just about spending a few million to try to turn it around, everyone knows this time the money is there to stay. Even if Fulham or Everton threw money at it you know the finances are not there to stay so they would attract the right players. They can't pay the wages that Newcastle will and no doubt FFP won't care what goes on.

What is this 5 year plan, 5 year plan to get to what?

I’m presuming to start challenging for trophies

All my Everton friends are terrified today. I'm honestly expecting 5 goals. Everton have 6 points away all season which is staggering enough without the players they will have missing. Liverpool should have this done inside of 30-40 minutes and then rotate out the team. A brave brave Everton fan that's going to Anfield for this one. Liverpool will love sending them towards the championship and will be telling them loudly where they are going from the first minute.

I’m actually a little concerned that Thiago isn’t playing but we really should be out of sight in the first half. It’s Liverpool tho and they love to crank up the anxiety, expect it to be one nil with 10 to go.

Im just glad I’m in Greece so won’t be watching lol.

I’ve got us down to lose 5-1.

What would concern me more if I was Lampard is finishing with 11 on the pitch. Everyone expects them to get beat but he has to make sure the players don't lose their heads and leave him with even more trouble for the next games. I can't see Everton finishing with 11 men.

I tend to agree.

I’m not watching the game today as rage will kick in:p I’m more interested in the Burnley Wolves game.

Our only chance of survival is our home form.
