Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 28th August 2022]

Not the game I wanted to see and again we concede from our own errors, but it did end up chalking off an achievement we utterly failed to complete last season: coming from behind to win a game, which will be good for the confidence. Bonus points for also doing so whilst having a bit of an off-day.

As is the case these days, the crowd trying to keep positive was a big help too and pleased Eddie made a big difference coming on - ultimately that’s our backup for Jesus so whether you think he’s good enough or not it’s what we’ve got to work with. Not thrilled Saka has started the season a bit lukewarm, but that just means we could be even better. Game highlighted where we need more depth too.

Give it time...

We will be accused of saying arsenal will win the league easily and I am just pointing out that the post I quoted is a joke before anyone tries to say otherwise

The wink kind of made that obvious already.

Arsenal have started well but they've usually always had good runs of results throughout a season, how they deal with injuries, poor results and the fixture schedule will be interesting.

I think the league is closer in quality than it's ever been so that will cause some extra twists and turns.

South American, bound to happen. Even so Haaland shouldnt have got away with that and it'll barely be a talking point.

True to this post and your other one. Regardless, it was never gunna happen. I do think Nunez will score plenty. You’ve gotta love someone like TS counting the community shield though, bless.

In fairness he probably didnt expect Haaland to get away with kicking someone in the head...
In no use trying to use rationale to counter Tigget, he is just trying take the mick. If I could be bothered, I'm sure I could trawl through his post history and find something along similar lines but theres no point in flag waving on this sort of medium :)

For the record for anyone who is interested (as I have to spell it out for some people) , in competitive (which it is as evidenced by anyone who was at or watched the game, irrespective of what Tigget might say) UK based games, the current tally is Haaland 6 Mitrovic 4 Nunez 2 (will include Mitrovic too as a premier league "newcomer" who looks like he is going to also be in the golden boot race)

We've not played great this season, particularly vs Fulham and the first half vs Utd, but we didn't have anything fall for us in the opening 3 games and then today quite literally everything went our way. We played well today but I wouldn't say we were amazing, but every loose ball or rebound fell to us and other than Salah missing a couple of sitters, every shot we had seemed to find the back of the net.

Fingers crossed some of our injured players start coming back and who knows, maybe even a new midfielder shows up and we can get a bit of stability and string a few results together.

Elliotts goal was an absolute beaut. So too was Trents to be fair. Did you see the prematch interview? Did indeed sound like Klopp was implying that a new midfielder is on the cards before the transfer window shuts.

I mentioned last night, he brought it up in his press-conference yesterday too. It's not really news that we want a midfielder given that we tried to sign Tchouameni but for Klopp to go on the record makes me think something is going to happen. As I said in the transfer thread, I think something has changed with Keita and that's made the issue a bit more pressing.

That third goal from Haaland is outrageous. He's so strong

Yeah, the first 2 were gifts but the third was a cracker. He is the best “classic” forward in the world at the moment IMO. Certainly up there.

Just rewatched the Liverpool Game, wow, what a game Elliot had for a young lad. If they can look after him injury wise, he might be like a New signing.

Yeah impressive. Proper centre forward.

Seen pictures of Alex Neil at the Stoke game yesterday. Obviously I find it hilarious but that is some serious lack of respect from him. What a snake. He’s still employed by Sunderland. I don’t recall seeing anything like that before. I hope the fans give him dogs abuse when they play and Stoke get relegated (along with Sunderland).
