Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 29th Jan 2021]

Ole took over a far FAR better squad then Klopp and has spent 250million, 130 mil of which was on Maguire and AWB. You also dont have the most score dgoals...you are joint with us and have played a game more.

This season is a write off anyway to be honest and i dont think people should take a lot out of it.

I do not care about Liverpool or Klopp. I am talking about my club Manchester United and at the current present time we are top of goals scored along with another club. Irrespective of games played. Some clubs don't score goals for several hours. You always have to make everything about Liverpool. Also a quote from the Liverpool Echo "Jurgen Klopp has actually spent £407.84m" just to bite your bait.

My point was that Ole is not as far along his journey yet when compared to other teams in recent years and whilst it was nice to be top I don't think any of us really though we were title challengers but what we did think is we would be closer this year than previous. We are already going to get 15-20 more points as is. My other point is we have no problem scoring goals but we always have to outscore the other team to win games. The two goals yesterday were pure defensive errors. Nothing to do with Sheffield United being great. If we were more solid that game would have been a 1-2 nil win. Just like against Fulham we shipped a stupid goal but managed to come back into it.

Lol Liverpool ain't miles behind the league leaders.calm down

We have the best goals scored in the league yet have shipped goals akin to the bottom half of the table. Something needs to be done to stop that. If we can solve that next season we can challenge. Please remember Ole is in his second full season. it took three for pep and four for Klopp to win a title.

Ole has bought his improvements to the team rather than engineered them through tactics and coaching. If he is still here in another 2 years we will still be talking about needing 2-3 more players to challenge. If we mirrored our form in the second half of the season it would have been one of the lowest points totals ever to win the league I think. We weren't in great form, all the other teams around us were just in equally patchy form.

I would happily put money on Ole never winning the league with United even if he gets exactly the players he wants in the summer. All the top teams have great squads. Its what you do with those players that wins you titles.

You honestly believe our centre halfs are as good as Liverpool's and City's. It is our major weakness at the moment. We seem a lot more stable with Eric Bailly but he is made of glass. Upamechano would be my bet. I also think De Gea needs to be moved on. For whatever reason he is just not as good as he was 2 years ago. He just makes too many mistakes. He should have been punching that corner out yesterday and despite our defence failing him for the second he should have hit that into the rafters. The forward players understand this and sit 5-10 yards further back which effects things even more.

Pep has fallen into a fantastic back four and it is of no surprise they are doing really well now. Our supreme period of 06-09 could have been argued due to Ronaldo but realistically it was because of VDS, Rio, Vidic being the best in Europe collectively at the time.

I believe that our defence would be fine if it was organised better and coached properly. Our biggest weakness is tracking people and organisation, not tackling ability or pace. Maguire is slow and will get caught out for pace occasionally but most of the goals that have come from defensive mistakes are from simply not following players coming into the box. Thats coaching and concentration. A better defence wouldn't fix our lack of attacking flair against dug in teams. It wouldn't help us attack against anything but a suicidal defence that allows us in behind or which is left exposed to the counter.

There are teams in the league that are far better defensively than us and far better offensively and some of those teams are mid table or worse. The difference is that they don't have the quality in attack to take their chances. We have been outplayed time and time again this season by much smaller clubs and they all suffer from not having a clinical striker. Its the hardest thing for smaller clubs to get and keep hold of.

@Moothead2 inevitable Mings mistake to cost us another goal tonight?
Just seen this now :p

I've seen people blaming him for the corner leading to the first goal but I think that's harsh. He maybe should have put it out straight away for a throw but after that Wood does well and then fouls Mings imo. Mings didn't really have much involvement in the goals after that.

I think Tottenham will walk this game. Probably about the worst team for Liverpool to face. Depends if Liverpools front 3 turn up and are firing. If they aren't on top form I think this could be a really hard game for them.

Liverpool are compromised atm but Spurs haven't beat them for 3 years or something.

Another injury :(

I think the risk of bringing in no center back is too much of a risk imo, he'll I not saying we sign a world class player a temporary solution would do even a loan or a short term deal on a free agent.

Matip won't stay fit either for long so we're potentially entirely center back less from the first team side.

Let's just hope our front three find there spark tonight as if not we'll game over
