Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2nd-4th Oct 2020]

Thing is...his manager is the one picking him. He has to take some of the blame aswell.

He will want a replacement he's just not hanging him out to dry in the press. Right now he has few options but to play him but I'm sure it's his top priority to replace him. Ancelotti has shown he can see the problem areas and deal with it. Pickford is garbage and has to go.

If Everton have a bit of luck with injuries they've got a real chance of not just making top 6 but even top 4. Pickford's going to be a concern for them (they're not the only side with a dodgy keeper though) but beyond that they've put together a very handy and really well balanced side. Their CB's aren't great but not terrible and certainly no worse than any of the other sides around them, they've got 2 very handy fullbacks, a rock solid midfield and a front line that just looks perfectly balanced and bang in form. It's no secret that I'm not a big fan of James but with a solid midfield behind him and two really hardworking forwards alongside him, he's got the freedom to just do his thing which really compliments Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin.

edit: and unlike those they're going to compete with, they've got no European football to concern themselves with and this season, with the crazy scheduling, that could be massive.

I think Ancelotti has got the balance just about right with this Everton team. Be interesting to see how they finish.

Injuries will be the big thing. Hopefully we do something else before the window closes because although we have numbers to make up the depth it's not real quality depth.

I think they might scrape top 6. Won't get near top 4 with Pickford. With the number of games they might have to rattle through the injuries will stack up and rule out any chance of top 4. Lot's of clubs are going to be asking themselves how they got James for no transfer fee. I'd love to know his wages.

Your lack of depth probably cancels out the advantage of no European football. If you can have Doucoure, Allan, Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin available for the majority of the season you'll do very well.

Utd and Chelsea made top 4 with De Gea and Kepa throwing the ball in all season. Pickford's bad but so are a lot of keepers in the League.

As for James, he's a luxury player that none of the big sides would touch and the pandemic put a massive squeeze on Real's finances - they were happy to get his wages off the books.

It's a good job it's the international break now as we've had a few players take knocks this week.

The bubble will burst on the 17th when they get torn apart at home.
The game being behind closed doors might prove to be a blessing in disguise for Everton. There's been a few times over the years, including last seasons FA Cup game where Everton fans have thought this was their chance vs Liverpool but it's almost like the team feels the pressure of those expectations and just don't show up.

I like their midfield for sure but they havent come up against any sort of a test yet. 12 points from 12 and really apart from Spurs you'd expect them to be there or there abouts.

I've said that it's probably done us good having no fans in. Many times in the last few years, if a mistake has been made or a goal conceded early on, the atmosphere in Goodison has turned sour.

Absolutely agree but also the way Everton will play this year as compared to the last 500 years since they last had any quality in 1987 will be ripe for picking apart by Liverpools front three. They may actually try to play some football in the derby instead of the usual tactics (which to be fair to them was their only option) and I think they will get over run. Not that there is shame in that, Liverpool will destroy just about anyone this season that tries to play football against them. I guess corona could change the game for any clubs though.

You'd think that, but our first 10 games last year "should" have been relatively straightforward and we went and lost 6 of them.
