Raya in goal, Viera starts in midfield. Viera has certainly earned a spot but I'm not sure this is the game to be starting him given how physical Everton are going to be, hope to be proved wrong.

Did Ramsdale take a knock for England? I approve of Vieira over Havertz but would rather ESR played.
Not that I'm aware of, most likely dropped today to play in the midweek Champions League game.

ESR is so low down in Arteta's pecking order I doubt we'll see much of him outside of smaller cup games and cameo appearances. :(

Deliberate to you and me and deliberate in the law is very different. As much as I believe that shouldn't count as offside, according to the rules VAR have got that right.

The following criteria should be used, as appropriate, as indicators that a player was in control of the ball and, as a result, ‘deliberately played’ the ball:

  • The ball travelled from distance and the player had a clear view of it
  • The ball was not moving quickly
  • The direction of the ball was not unexpected
  • The player had time to coordinate their body movement, i.e. it was not a case of instinctive stretching or jumping, or a movement that achieved limited contact/control
  • A ball moving on the ground is easier to play than a ball in the air
