Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 21st February 2024]

That's the first time City haven't won in 12 games, I wouldn't be too concerned for them just yet. And as bad a season as Chelsea are having, they've shown at times that they're still capable of giving anybody a game. I mentioned yesterday, in their 5 games vs Liverpool, City and Arsenal, they've only lost once.

Chelsea got that extremely late penalty against City in the first and Haaland being very off yesterday he alone had a higher xG than Chelsea - although Chelsea missed good chances it’s somewhat expected with Jackson and Sterling. City could (should??) have won that. Fine margins.

Surely he can’t play him next week. He needs taking out the starting line up for everyone’s sake.

Lucky to get a point today. Same old frailties again.
Howe will probably drop him next week expecting we will get beat anyway and then basically say “see I dropped him and we get beat” “so that’s what he starts”.
We robbed Bournemouth of a point yesterday, they will feel they lost 2 points yesterday.

Aye then bring him back for the cup game. It’s all becoming a little bit depressingly predictable.
Anyway, at least we didn’t lose. Didn’t think the pen was justified, not read all the pages of this thread properly but again, VAR was brought in to correct clear and obvious errors. It took them nearly ten minutes to give the pen. If it takes that long watching replays then it’s most certainly not a clear and obvious error.

The ref wasn't giving pens yesterday. Jota got put in a choke slam in the first half and the ref waved it away.

Was the same with the Watkins chance. Diop sticks a leg out and trips him up. I dont understand how VAR looks at those sorts of challenges and doesn't see an issue. Anywhere else on the pitch and it's a foul.

Theres a lot of big matches to come yet, Spurs will have a say, so will Villa (Villa have to play Liverpool, Arsenal AND City) and of course there are the big 2 games, Liverpool v City and City v Arsenal.

I believe Klopps last away game will be at VP... Could be an incredible game that one, especially if it ends up being a title decider for Liverpool and a CL spot for us.

How about this stupid challenge that wasn’t given yesterday, it’s as clear a penalty as you can get, but shock horror the Ref bottles it.
Why dont you post the WWE moves on Jota in the first half that "shock horror" the ref bottles. We had 4 fouls in the whole game compared to 18 that Brentford got, the ref was joke.

As for this challenge, Toney moves back into Robertson. No arguments if a pens given but its a 50/50.

The problem is what’s given in 1 game isn’t given in others as @Vandle says, there is no way we should have been given a pen yesterday and taking 10 mins to give it means it’s not clear and obvious

That is never a 50:50. He jumps into him with no attempt to play the ball.
Toney isnt attempting to play the ball either. They both collided with each other. Like i said, id want a pen but i get why it wasnt blown. The Jota one earlier in the game is clearer.
