Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 22nd December 2024]

Good game that, going forward very nice but I don't think Slot will be very pleased with the defensive side of things. Chugging along quite nicely tho :)

Amorim will be lucky to last the season. That was worse than ETH.

January needs wingbacks bringing in as a bare minimum. If we go through January with zero signings getting 40 points will be the priority!

I thought you weren't watching it? It wasn't worse than ETH at all. The result looks bad but it could have quite easily been different.

This reactive short-termism needs to stop. The squad is a complete mess and he's joined at pretty much the worst possible time in the fixture schedule.

I watched the second half. That was enough for me.

You cannot tell me that Bournemouth have a better set of players than Man United and that by now Amorim has been in charge for 6 weeks that he can't get them playing better.

I am not talking about just this game but in general.

I think they have a more cohesive set of players who are well coached and have been playing under that manager for quite some time. Iraola drew/lost his first 10 or so games in charge, but once he had time with the players, things turned around for the better.

Amorim has taken over during a period where we have a game every 3-4 days. That means a lot of travelling, resting and minimal time for training. On top of that the players are having to learn a new system, and football IQ isn't exactly their collective strong point. There is quality in the squad but it's a bit sparse in places.

In general, by almost every metric, there is an improvement. There is still a long way to go, and I don't think we're likely to find any real consistency this season, there are just too many problems.

When you say almost every metric is "winning games" part of that? I havent checked stats but for me, you arent moving forward in that department and its kinda inportant.

Of course that’s important, but it can also hide problems. If we’re judging short term then Solskjaer is the best manager ever. Watching the games and looking at chances created and conceded, and possession, most things are getting better. Unfortunately due to individual errors and poor defending of set pieces, that isn’t translating into results - yet. I think he needs to settle on a starting XI and let them gel a bit now.
