Also have to disagree here.

Mo is not Ronaldo level.

Great player, but not in the same tier.
Agree too, though because Mo in the PL is at a higher level than Ronaldo.

Overall of course Ronaldo is the 2nd best ever after Messi.

Just watching sky now and Mo's numbers are just a joke, and he has done it season after season. Only reason he isn't talked about as one of the best ever consistently is purely down to the trophies won, but for me those are down to the team, not a player.

Have to disagree, that period for Ronaldo was his growth and didn't peak till he got to Madrid. The longevity and consistency of Salah, I'd put him at the top. His stats are just monumental. Better than Henry's.
Ronaldo was a beast for 3 or 4 season before he went to Madrid, theres a reason they paid a massive WR fee for him, it blew the previous record out the water. United won 3 in a row and the CL. He was the second best player in the world behind Kaka at the start of that period then progressed to the best player in the world for a year or 2. Salah isn’t in that tier yet, we’re talking about top 5 player OAT time here.

Who's the guy on the Liverpool bench who is always watching the screen they look at and seems to give Slot lots of info. Beginning to think he might be a unsung hero here. Might be the brains.

Ronaldo was a very good player for a few seasons prior to joining Madrid but he only had one genuinely top class season. That season has been matched or bettered numerous times by others, including Salah on multiple occasions.

You can't use Ronaldo's achievements at Real to justify your claim regarding his position amongst PL greats.

Who were the minnows that Ronaldo played for?

Ronaldo fans take offence to this but Messi is so far clear of Ronaldo, it's not even close. It's not a criticism of Ronaldo, he was an all time great but Messi is the greatest. He didn't just score goals at a rate as good or better than anybody else but he also created at a rate as good or better than anybody else and was the best playmaker around too.

I know we will all have different views, Arsenal fans will say Henry, Man U will say Ronaldo, Liverpool Mo etc.

But I think we all will have to agree, if Mo carries on like this until the end of the season it will go down as the best PL season ever by a player, and by some distance too. Its pretty close already so may not even need to keep up this pace.

Newcastle wobbled second half but did you guys actually watch Liverpool City lol?

Liverpool were alright on the counter and City spectacularly bad at dealing with it and overcoming a low block. Wednesday will be a totally different and high energy game I expected, hope our players aren't absolutely shagged (Szobo bound to be)

Put it this way.

Do you think Messi could be Messi in the Prem (back then) ;)

Hope that clears it up.

Yes. I know you edited it out of your initial post, but some of the South American sides Messi would have faced with Argentina were 10x worse than your Stoke's of 20 years ago.

I did edit it as not sure if Stoke were in the Prem back then, but you know what I mean.

Messi was at Barca at 13/14 years of age.

So I miss your point?

With Argentina, not in Argentina. Whether WC qualifiers or in the Copa America, Messi would have regularly come up against far bigger thugs than Robert Huth and Ryan Shawcross. I had the pleasure of watching some of the Copa America while over in the US last summer and my biggest take from watching the matches was how violent the football was.

Yeh it's a different ball game in South America.

With regard Brazil also, some stars were born into money, some had to fight in the streets through poverty to get where they were.

Different world really.

And on that note. I'm out, have a good evening!

Someone on here a few weeks back said Salah was underrated. Tickled me that.

Mad game to go along with the mad season at Newcastle. How tight is that league table though? Likely wins for Bournemouth, Villa and Chelsea midweek will see Newcastle drop to 8th, obvs assuming we get nowt at Anfield, until we go to West Ham on March 10th by which time Chelsea would have routed Leicester.

It'll be tough game against Newcastle on Wednesday, definitely won't be an easy game, we saw that at St.James's.

I do think getting knocked out by Plymouth will be a blessing though, giving us the weekend off :D

Apart from travelling to Paris on the 5th of March we haven't got an away game until April 5th so even the less travelling over the month should benefit in regards to tiredness

Wembley too, forgot about that :D
