Young was correctly sent off
Konate should have been sent off
Was a definite Pen

Thats how I see it so far. A shame though that its another week and another week that we're talking about refereeing rather than football. Something definitely needs to be done.

Yep, I agree completely.

I just find it somewhat annoying that he can get the decision right for Young but can’t for Konate? It seems super obvious to me that it was a bookable offence and i don’t get why he doesn’t give it. Like, what has he possibly seen that makes him think it isn’t?

Probably had a bet on with the Toney-Tonali bookies for a Liverpool win :)

Nice to be on the positive side of a ref mistake for once, Konate should've been off but we deserved the win.

Kostas really is quite a substantial downgrade on Robertson though :(

It was always going to be the case after the kick up from the last match.

Guess that’s it evened out.

Brutal for Everton, nothing will be said I don’t think.

Fairly horrendous we required a penalty to do the job there. First half Everton played so open and we couldn't really get close to scoring quite concerning.

Konate easily should have been off

A typical scrappy derby but an important 3 points. I thought we played pretty well in the first half but after the red card Everton had everybody behind the ball and we struggled to create a great deal. The way the opening goal came about looked like the only way we were going to score - we just had to keep getting to the byline and get the ball into the box hope the law of averages meant something fell our way and in the end that was the handball.

The way some of the pundits are going on about Everton being unlucky with decisions is way OTT. Yes, Konate could have easily been given a 2nd yellow but it's wasn't a nailed on decision and one that refs sometimes let go. Pawson showed with Young his willingness to give players an extra life when he didn't give Young a 2nd yellow for kicking the ball away 10(?) mins before he received his 2nd yellow. The penalty was about as straight forward as you can get and the rules around handball was changed about 10 years ago for that very thing.

People are overreacting I think. The officiating was about the standard we’ve come to expect in PL games. It was nowhere near horrendous though.
