Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 24th September 2023]

Not a chance of big Sam coming.

Players totally gave up , absolute shambles and hate to say I walked out at 5 as you could see they had just thrown the towel in and couldn't be arsed.

We were always going to drop with our spending but throwing the towel in like that...worst I've ever seen united play.

Watched the Newcastle game when I got home form work, seldom I watch when I already know the result so that may skew my opinion but it seemed a pretty open and entertaining game int he first 20. Wilson had some great chances he usually dispatches and a couple of good chances fell for Thomas that he should have done better with. Looked like it was set up to be a real end to end game. Even after the first goal their heads didn't drop. As per the rules the goal stood but imo it shouldn't, if a defender handled it in the same manner then it's a pen no question. Wrong. The other side of that is a blatant pen on Gordon which wasn't even reviewed. To be frank though it wasn't a dubious goal that lost this game for them, they were hopeless. Newcastle carved through them with ease and I think it was Newcastle's intensity rather than their good play that won it, harsh in hindsight but I dont think Newcastle hit anywhere near their best, they didn't have to plus we could have easy been 2 down after 10 minutes.

Those three promoted teams have 3 points between them going into October and can't see much changing for them this weekend. Good news for Forest and Everton is that 28 points might keep them up!
The three teams that went down last year had a combined total of 16 at this point.

To be fair to Burnley, they haven't had one winnable game, apart from Forest, and they were away, and should have won if VAR wasn't dodgy as. City, Villa, Spurs and Man U isn't an easy start. Newcastle next for them so not getting any easier neither!
