Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th - 31st March 2024]

Quiet game on Tyneside  Had a bit of everything.

Not complaining but they are never penalties but after giving the first one then you have to give the second if you are going to be consistent which is what we have all been banging on about all season. If their little team of experts in a room can watch multiple angle replays and say yes they are clear penalties then it’s hard to see where the game is going. Gordon getting a bit of a rep for winning these pens. I don’t love that side of the game but is what it is these days, I’d feel aggrieved if my team were on the other end of them that’s for sure. I’m also hoping that Schar is finally going to let go of that rolling about the floor holding his farce lark after that second goal, cried wolf too many times now and it’s awful to see from a so called tough centre half.
Looks like we dodged a bullet with Phillips too. Dear me, what a disastrous substitution that was. Took off a player who our defence was petrified of and effectively killed their chance of a result.
Looks like Phillips may be in bother for this although he shouldn’t be. https://talksport.com/football/1808604/west-ham-kalvin-phillips-middle-finger/

Imagine being the fella abusing him though, imagine being the type of bloke that hangs around for a couple of hours after a game waiting just so you can shout abuse to put the vid on social media. Pathetic. Phillips should have chinned him.

Anyone still standing after yesterday’s games? What a day of football lol

If Howe doesn’t play Hall on Tuesday I really don’t know what’s going on. Him and Anderson coming on changed the game for me. Newcastle were able to progress the ball a lot quicker up the pitch and able to hold the ball and keep possession near the Westham box.

What a wild game!! I’ve never seen anything like it. 3 injuries and and two down to turn it around from 77 min. Mental!!!

Gordon superb yet again. I take it since his yellow turned into a red with a second booking the two yellows don’t count towards his season total? He’s only has a one match ban instead of 3 match ban for 10yellows and one sending off?

Harvey Barnes archer celebration is pure delight!!

mate I think your getting ahead of yourself a little, Hall and Anderson were both excellent when they came on, but they didn’t change the game, What changed the game was Moyes bottling the game at 3-1 taking Antonio off(who ran our defence silly btw) and replacing him with Philips.

We couldn't handle Antonio, Moyes did us a favour there, and Phillips looked completely gassed after 5 minutes. He's so bad I dunno if I feel sorry for him at this point.

On reflection of the penalties, I think both are criminal(sorry for the wind up yesterday @Trusty @beachBOYken ) second one was given I think because they gave the first one. Either way, after the penalties and the sub the Hammers collapsed.

Haven't seen any of the Newcastle game but the Phillips penalty is entirely on Phillips. If he actually had some awareness he could've moved his body a bit to block Gordon but he panicked and tried to hoof the ball, hoofing Gordon in the process. Penalty all day for me.

well being a lot more positive is changing a game. Anderson always looking to play the ball forward and looking to get on the ball compared to Longstaff and Willock. Who were invisible. Bruno didn’t have to do everything.

Mostly happy with Hall getting some game time. He has technical ability in spades. Going down the wing and dropping into midfield and looked comfortable doing it.

With the injuries what do you think the back 4 will be against Everton if Livermento and Lascelles are out.

Trippier/Kraft, Schar, Burn, Hall?

Hall was very good, I think that will be the back 4, hopefully Everton don’t cause us the problems that West Ham did, but you know what we’re like for giving team and players down on their luck, Everton haven’t won in how long and DCL hasn’t scored in how long

The injuries are still huge :(

Even if we hold out until many of them return they'll probably take time to be back up to speed.

There it is
Pretty rough luck there but poor and the injuries playing a massive part in how that occurred, mountain to climb
