Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 6th January 2025]

Proper miserable away day. Atmosphere was dead from the start and the players played accordingly. A very leggy performance which doesn't bode well for the onslaught of fixtures coming up, almost a sense of players holding back in anticipation of the run up. Didn't hear a peep out of the Brighton fans until the run up to their goal, just a shame we couldn't put them away in the first 60. Once they got their tails up they were by far the better team. Don't care about the marginal penalty, we shouldn't be relying on beating a team 1-0, especially away.

It's going to be a make or break January both on and off the field. There's very little indication we can push Liverpool but the temporary 5 point gap is not insurmountable. Hopefully it's mainly the bug going around causing the drop in performance because players like Havertz, Odegaard, and Trossard are well below their levels from last season. As a side note the lack of fight until the last 10 or so minutes was so poor, we used to start games at that tempo and blow teams away for 60ish mins. The constant time wasting doesn't help either, you could hear the frustration building in the crowd when we're messing about with a throw or freekick, it also gets the opposition crowd going when they have nothing else to cheer for.

A postponement tomorrow will be good for us, and my mental, not sure I can go into the first proper work week having supported United for 90mins.

To match last seasons points total Arsenal can only afford to drop 5 points in their next 18 games - 49 from the available 54 essentially a draw and a loss. For reference they only picked up 36 in the 1st half of the season. looking like they will get 76 points, 2ppg.

Really hope game today isn’t called off.

Some of roads near anfield have been driven on assuming the video or photos genuine but if too many travel routes disturbed doubt it will happen :(

Apparently council meeting is taking place now, so we should know soon if the game will go ahead.....really hoping it does, been looking forward to this weekend all week.

Big Angi is very angry these days. Not sure what football match he was watching.

The handball was text book not a hand ball. Wasn’t even close to a handball. Bruno was also the player passed the ball for the goal.

The only really contentious decision that went our way was the Darn Burn handball when he was on a yellow!.

Spurs got away with kneeing Dubs in the face, leaving a shoulder into Gordon face and various professional fouls stoping attacks.

We looked tired and leggy in the second half but Dubs didn’t have a hard to save to make and our goal was never really under threat since we defended well.

Timber was suspended, Whites back, Sterling youve answered yourself. Nwaneri was taken off injured?
Oh yeah forgot about that. Heard White was due back soon but we have a habit of rushing players back so I'm not convinced yet. Yeah was in the post match from Arteta about him being injured.

Good news re the match as however a shoeing we are going to get, it's normally a decent watch as an entertainment.

Saying that though just seen Northampton Saints vs Bath at 1500 if that's you cuppa tea.
