Nope, the squad is capable of more, but not under this manager.
Besides, it's a squad of his players - so he's obviously clueless in terms of how good they are/what's required in this league.

I’d say so but with the slight issue title winning squad wages which means the narrative is they should be doing better.
I’ve tried to get a response to something similar before. Go through the squad, who’s good? Be realistic though. There’s no one world class. There’s certainly no one anywhere near the top of the tree for their position they play.

I think we're going to have to accept being lower/mid-table for the foreseeable future. The reports after the match speak of 'easing' the pressure on Ten Hag - have the journalists gone insane? We're 14th for god sake and every statistic is terrible, among the worst in the league. He's benched £300m worth of his players and had to call on Jonny Evans to try and save his job. Crazy.
His post match interview comments are just mind-boggling as well.

Was for his first 6 months or so id give you that but to be world class for me. You need to do it constantly for a couple of seasons at least!

It does ease it because it was a difficult game away. Villa were heavily favoured almost odds on.
Lower mid table team as you’ve said going away to a team wanting top 4 is a good result.
But this shouldn't be the situation - it's an acceptance that Ten Hag and his signings have been a catastrophic failure.
Villa were particularly awful and Evans played a blinder, that was about it.
Poor from the Brighton keeper, if they had a proper striker they'd be ahead here.

I don’t disagree. It’s been going on for a decade now. Fellaini, adm, Alexis etc etc etc if you keep signing dross, or players who are simply not up for it for what ever reason you’re going to be in a situation like this. There’s also the other signing of players who are just past it or not good enough for so called similar level clubs like the 3 summer signings this year they aren’t going to get you up the table! Years gone by these players would be moving to lower/mid table clubs and thus United have become that club.
