Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th - 16th August 2017]

This Walker-Peters doesn't look remotely out of place, for such a young player making his debut he's played very well.

I've been really impressed by him, he'll be good for a second full back for the season. Irritatingly I had him on my FPL bench and he's getting 6 points :(

This is what I don't understand.
Why is he only making his league debut now.
Surely he could have spent a year playing football already in either a lower end Premier league team or in the championship

Spurs were genuinely dire in the first half, obviously different in the second but they played against 10 for pretty much the entire half....

Strong team for us, looks like a 4231 on paper.

Hernandez starting for West Ham too.

Shelvey really is a special kind of moron to pull that stunt.

Cost his team and fans big time.

If I was his manager he'd be fined the maximum I could, and slapped on the transfer list.

There must be something not quite right with Shelvey, he never seems to learn.
How many times has he done something completely stupid that has cost us the game?

I didn't watch it, just followed it on the BBC website but we seemed to be holding our own until the red card.

That, along with the two injuries, isn't very promising but equally it doesn't feel like the end of the world just yet.

To be fair most expected a loss so as you say it's not exactly game over.

Be worrying on the length of those injuries and if Cashley still refuses to buy we are in even more trouble.

Up until the red I was extremely impressed (if bored) by the way we played, very disciplined and organised and looked half threatening on the break. Ironically I was saying Shelvey would cost us for his poor positional play, he proved me right but with a red :p

I've often rated Jonjo Shelvey as a very good player with a lot of potential then he does this time and time again. I can't blame teams for continually letting him go even when he has the potential.

When he turns it on he's a very good player, but he's also a complete liability and a potential red card in waiting every game.

Just back from the match, yes he always has been a walking red card and he doesn't seem to learn, Merino looked a much better option when he came on so it might be a blessing in disguise. People getting on toon fans backs for booing alli after the incident you have to remember all clubs fans do that when one of there players get sent off and don't get the benefit of a reply to see what he actually did, from where I sit it looked like he tripped over alli and was sent off for nothing, only when I have rewatched it at home could I see what the idiot actually did.
