I believe he was in a serious car crash.

In June 1990, while in Italy to watch the World Cup, Redknapp was involved in a road accident along with Michael Sinclair, the chairman of York City, Fred Whitehouse, the chairman of Aston Villa and Bournemouth's managing director Brian Tiler, who died along with four other people. Travelling through Latina, south of Rome, their minibus was in collision with a car containing several Italian soldiers. Their vehicle was flipped onto its roof and skidded fifty yards along the road. Redknapp was doused in petrol and pulled clear of the accident by Sinclair. Redknapp suffered a fractured skull, a broken nose, cracked ribs and a gash in his left leg. Ambulance services arriving at the scene believed him dead and placed a blanket over his head. Unconscious for two days Redknapp was flown home two weeks later in a special air ambulance paid for by AFC Bournemouth. Though he made a full recovery (apart from losing his sense of smell and gaining a facial tic), he eventually quit Bournemouth at the end of the 1991–92 season.

Seriously tell me on what planet would you ever think Arsenal would have helped you???...it was a dead cert that we would lose today, anyone thinking otherwise needs their heads checked.

Arsenal have it in them to get a draw. Just not when they go down to 10 men after 9 minutes. :o

Disagree with just about every single word of that

Specifically this playing him out of position stuff, surely Kagawa has shown by now that at the moment he simply doesn't have the strength to play in his perceived favoured position not to mention my understanding is he plays wide on the left for Japan pretty much all the time

Are you just ignoring the fact he's played in his 'favoured position' for Dortmund, with great success?

I know he hasn't done massively well so far, but he's not had a good run of games and he's been injured. Give him a chance at least.

God I'm fed up of this give him a chance stuff, Have I said sell him? Have I said he wont come good eventually? All I'm doing is calling it like it is, or am I not allowed to do that because he's a new signing?

So far he's been crap. He was crap before the injury, he's been crap since the injury. We've played him in his preferred position of off the striker, we've played him in a 3 man midfield, we've played him in a two man midfield and we've played him wide on the left and so far he's been largely crap in every single one of them. Like I said prior to kick off today I challenge anyone to tell me a game where he's been more good than bad?

I disagree, I think he did fairly well today.

The Welbeck discussion is an interesting one. I bet most of the people that rate him are the ones who didn't really like Berbatov.

Berbatov is a real class act, his decision making and technical ability are second to none, but he doesn't mindlessly close everyone down like a headless chicken and tire himself out after 45 minutes.

Welbeck is, as someone described him, a 'pace merchant', he can run a lot (for one half) and fairly quickly, but that's it. His finishing, passing and control are all fairly poor most of the time. I'm giving him a chance and he's sometimes moderately effective, but someone else would do a far better job.

Yesterday he got praise for running around like a headless chicken, most of the things he did were fairly poor, like they usually are. Whenever he's sprinting somewhere with the ball, you know he's going to mess it up with a poor pass, or woeful shot.

He can have some more opportunities (though hopefully not in important games), but so far I'm not a big fan. He doesn't seem to have improved much since becoming part of the first team, which is a concern.

In fairness he's our 4th choice striker so we shouldn't expect the world from him, but why not just hang on to Berbatov and rotate him properly instead of giving Welbeck a bigger contract. It's utterly bizarre really.

Hernandez isn't all that outside of the penalty area, but inside he's one of the very best and you can usually rely on him to put chances away. Welbeck would miss those same chances.
