Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 16th March 2016]

Being over critical is 1 thing but to actually want a team your side is challenging for the title to win is ridiculous.

We aren't challenging, not sure when people will realise that. We can't win it, if we get close we'll screw it up, if we drop off we'll pick up form and people will say "what if". It's been 12 years and people still don't get how Arsenal work.

One, we WILL NOT WIN the league this year, so do I want Leicester to win it, particularly over Spurs, I sure as hell do.

Liverpool can win the title still mathematically, did you want Leicester to lose tonight or despite being mathematically in the fight do you genuinely not believe you can win the title and as such maybe want Leicester to win the title?

I'll also reiterate, I'm pretty much the only Arsenal fan here who believes Arsenal have the financial muscle to actually compete properly if we get rid of Wenger and the worst players, I've always thought that.

Because I'm not a pie in the sky, self delusional idiot who can't learn from exactly the same problems with my team over 12 years... I'm not a fan?

Where is it written that if you're a fan you have to believe you can win the title? Do Stoke fans think they'll win it, Chelsea, they can still win it, they won't but it's actually possible. Arsenal also won't win it, this team is physically not capable of it. I want Wenger gone precisely because I know this team can't win it, won't under Wenger and under a different manager we might be able to again.

12 years? since 2004? Arsenal won the league in 2004 and got to the CL final. Crazy. :D

Offside goal, and poor 'finishing' (if you can call those chances) from us. Hope Spurs win the league and Leicester go into administration.

Eg. tonight, quite late on they said how Leicester had by then had a single shot on target... which was the goal where Vardy was offside in the build up ;).

Apparently not offside according to the analysis after the game.

I think it's fair to say that Leicester were fortunate tonight, and have managed to get a number of results when not playing well this season. However the game plan is to sit back and let the opposition have the ball, so it's never going to look like we're dominating teams in the conventional sense.

Arsenal are challenging for the title? While mathematically possible, I think that ship has well and truly sailed. Leicester will win if they can hold their nerve otherwise Tottenham will mop up. Arsenal and Man City are no longer in the chase.

Leicester deserve it after a great turn around and a great season. Sure, they've won some games where they played poorly - but every team that has ever won the premiership has done that.

Arsenal and city are not out of it though i think it will be more down to leicesters luck running out. They were lucky tonight. I still think spurs could snatch this

Absolute madness that Leicester might actually win the League. They barely ever play well, they're just finding ways of grinding out results.

I got lynched for saying that a game or so ago. I get why people want them to win it, I'd rather watch my sons under 7's play football though. I personally feel that obviously it will be the greatest achievement in our lifetimes is clouding the judgement of the standard of football.

So many managers should hang their heads in shame this year.

There was definitely a Rafa Reaction™ from the lads tonight so I'm pleased about that, I thought we were good for a draw but our lack of finishing scuppered us.

Going into the game I was expecting to concede at least three, so 1-0 isn't so bad. :p

What a load of rubbish. Sour grapes.

Why's it rubbish?

Utd proved in Taggart's last season that you can be rubbish and win the league but Leicester are taking the ****. They're finding ways to win rather than out playing sides. Credit to them though, nobody will care or remember how they win it if they do. You're not convincing me that Leicester are a great side though.

They're solid though, with an unbelievable work ethic. Players like Konte, Drinkwater, Vardy and even Mahrez are prime examples of this.

Amazing how far that can actually take you, even with the ability of the likes of Morgan in the team. All you need is a solid, hard working team and a couple of stand outs to get you goals = potential to win the league.

Konte in particular is the stand out for me, it's incredible how often he breaks down play, puts a foot in or intercepts a pass. He's awesome.

I know, I said as much a few weeks back. This is a poor league with none of the big sides having any consistency and Leicester have shown how far you can go if you can just be fairly competent, keep things tight at the back and have a threat up front. You don't have to play great football and play sides off the pitch.

If you take out the fairy tale factor, I think it's fair to say Leicester (or whoever else may go on to win it) would be the poorest champions possibly since the beginning of the PL.

Konte/Kante reminds me a lot of Makele, I could see him at a top club if he keeps playing the way he does. The rest I think are decent players playing well in a system that has caught the league on the hop.

Last 4 games they have won 3 drew 1 but they have not been in any way convincing, though you could argue it's the mark of a good side to play bad and win.

I think in the 1st half of the season, what caught a lot of sides out was the fact they were favorites to go down. Teams were well underestimating them. In comparison, when teams play the traditional big sides, UTD, Liverpool, City etc...it's like a cup final for them, it's always a harder match because teams want to prove themselves against the big clubs. They obviously have a few wicked players in their team as well, Mahrez in particular, he's a very good player, could easily see him being snapped up by a top side in the summer. They have a really experienced manager as well who knows how to the get the best out of them, what they are doing is incredible, hats off to them. I like how they adapted certain styles throughout the season, at the start they were scoring for fun, very open and direct, the goals have dried up a bit recently and they are getting by on organisation and scrappy wins now. True sign of champions being able to adapt like that. Chelsea last season were similar, very good at the start then had to adapt to bring home the title.

Kante, mahrez, drinkwater and vardy have been genuinely class. Bit harsh to say they are now grinding out wins. They're not a team full of stars, they're the definition of a bloody good team all things considered. Mahrez in particular has made people look stupidly silly at times. Grinding out wins when you're in the slump is the sign of a title winning side, very few dominate for the full season.

Haven't Leicester remained pretty much unchanged throughout the entire season as well? With their style of play it's not too much of a stretch to say they must be pretty tired by now.

They are also out of all competitions and got out pretty early on. They have a week rest in between games, they wont be tired.
