Very surprised how we're lining up. Gerrard seems the deepest of the midfield three and Lucas is alongside Henderson. Surprised Allen didn't start if that was the plan.
 
24 mins into the season and Purdy's not swearing his head off because Liverpool should be winning and aren't, what's going on :eek:

ironic he's in that ''don't sign for the wrong team'' ad. they may aswell have used the stoke team in the ad.

I really can't see Stoke turning it around and being anything but what they've been. They joined the Prem and have become more entrenched in the defensive mentality every season getting worse every season, eventually they were going to (and came close last season) to being so utterly clueless offensively that they'd get relegated.

There is just far too many players who have been there too long with that mentality to be able to turn it around easily. They probably need a bit of a sunderland like revolution, keep a few key men and try and replace as many of the rest as possible. But seems they've done their spending and aren't buying a new team, and building a new team almost entirely from scratch within a season and staying up is difficult anyway.

Stoke were always diabolic away from home though in terms of mentality/tactics.
