Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 21st January 2015]

Lads i am getting really worried about DM. he hasnt responded since our brilliant result and performance against city

Because it's boring, it's the way of the world now.

Not winning many games against the top 4 in the past 4-5 years becomes winning none in the minds of the hyperbolic masses... then we win one game and OMG< it's changed, we're brilliant again.... even though you know we won a single game against the top four while in 5th place.

We beat Liverpool when Liverpool were having a great season and finished above us... we were in 1st place when we won that game.

I don't see a result as a single result, I see it as part of the season, part of the season in which our record against the top half is abysmal. For Arsenal to compete for the title we need to pretty much win half our games against the top four with a generally very good record against the rest of the table. Being further down the table than usual(before our customary awful Feb/March btw), having a worse record than normal against 5th-10th.... but winning a game against the top four... woo-freaking-hoo.

Worse season than usual but because of one win I should randomly suddenly believe something changed. It of course had nothing to do with City being crap... nope, it was all Arsenal. Arsenal who counter attacked over and over while creating almost nothing, constant misplaced passes and running directly into the defenders.

Even Wenger has seemingly said we were lucky with the penalty decision, I can see why it was given but it was soft as anything. The freekick we scored from... I don't know any more, 99% of Sanchez going down is diving, it looked enthusiastic but I don't know if he dived for that one or not, only saw it from the blind side.

We've played 12 games against the current top half now, we've won 4. We won against the top 4 last year, any given game you might win or lose, we could have beaten Chelsea, it happens. But people go from believing this nonsense idea that we never win against the top 4 to thinking it's impossible then when we win one of those games everyone acts like magically everything is fixed. We're 5th, we've been worse than last season throughout the season, of course we're going to win a few big games, we have every year, it's about consistency, attitude, how we played, how we do for the rest of the season.

If, and it's a monumental if, we managed to win several big games on the trot that would be an entirely different matter. But when we beat Liverpool last year did we have a fantastic year, nope.

After 22 games last year we had 51 points, after 22 games this year we have 39 and are 4 places lower.... but we beat a City who played very poorly, with a dodgy penalty... so it was a brilliant result?

Next year lets lose 30 games... but beat the top 4 in every single game... woo. 12 points worse off, but we won a single game... I'm over the freaking moon. If we stayed 12 points worse off last year we would have finished 6th, we've having a very poor year and one result doesn't change that.

EDIT:- after 22 games last year we had won 16, drawn 3, lost 3. This year we have won 11, drawn 6, lost 5. We ended up 4th last year from 1st at this point in the season. We're 5th now and if we have a crap Feb/March... we're boned. With 16 games to go to match last season's points haul we need 40 more points or we need something like 13 wins, 1 draws and 2 losses, chances of that... none.

so much nonsens and ramblings its hard where to start picking and destroying such a terrible response.

You did not mention or discuss almost nothing about THE MATCH.

you did not discuss our tactics, how its blatent we STOPPED city from playing there game.

How our midfielders defended as a unit and marked david silva out of the game, Howe did not commit too much players forward, How wenger played everyone in there correct position etc etc.

o no you moan about nonsense that do not dicuss THE ACTUAL game in question.

did i or anyone here say that arsenal all of a sudden are going to compete for the title? what the hell are you smoking man! everyone here including pundits have simply highllighted things that wenger and the team has done first time in this match that we have not done so in the past and set out with a proper solid tactical plan!

Yet here you are rambling about our other 21 league games this season plus the other 100+ games in the past 10 years instead of commenting on this one single game were we finally showed some grit and tactical awareness.

You sir are not an arsenal fan, far from it. you will never ever applaud anything that arsenal and wenger do right at all.

Win a fa cup? Na, you moan how we only won it against a crap team and had an easy path to the final.

Beat City away from home who are 12 games unbeaten there and at the manner we did? Na you moan about the other 21 league games LOL!

probably if we win the CL or something you will say "Na, Messi/Ronaldo had an off day " LOL.

its sickening reading your post. really was. i thought you would come out and say "well done to my gunners, it was a good performance, lets keep it up" But NOOOOOOO, complete opposite.

Random question.
Could you do a quick analysis of the invincible's year, would like to see your thoughts on that one :D

But yes, I see what you're getting at, however it's just nice to us beat a decent team away from home for once.

He will probably say that all the teams we played had an off day or something

Stop it jonneymendoza. You're the most embarrassing poster on here, from any clubs supporters. Never known anyone jump sides so much. I rarely, if ever agree with the things DM says, but damn you are special.

First win since November, against Europes top scoring team, who missed a penalty.....and had a goal denied.....AND AUSTIN HIT THE TARGET?

WHAT THE HELL?

MOT! Gutted I didn't go tonight, can only usually get to midweek games. Sounded like we rode our luck a bit the 2nd half but we deserve it to be on our side for once. "Penalty" was 203 yard outside the box as well.

jump sides to what? teams? i have always supported arsenal, not a glory hunter.

embarrassing?

why not reply to my post in regards to DM with a proper walkthrough of how that is an embarrassing post.

Your post in particular offers nothing but thin air.

No points, no info, nothing.

yawn zzzz

I don't think DM has ever said he's an Arsenal fan, he just seems to have some morbid obsession with commenting negatively on all of their matches. He's a Brentford and Sociedad (Vela) fan though for sure... :p
